About

You don't need to throw menhirs to master Latin. Just open Lapicida. Any app can teach you words. Understanding Latin takes more: recognising forms, analysing sentences, reading real ancient texts. Lapicida joins all four steps into one path – from your first word to Cicero, Caesar, Virgil or Plinius in the original. For school, for a university Latin requirement, or for learning on your own. Lapicida follows your pace. Try it free. -------------------- THE PATH TO YOUR LATIN EXAM -------------------- 1. VOCABULARY WITH AI PHOTO SCAN Photograph a page from your book: the AI picks out the words and matches them against more than 11,300 entries – whichever textbook you use. 13 practice modes, from Tetris to Ruina, train your memory through spaced repetition. 2. FORMS IN REAL CONTEXT Never learn declension and conjugation as an abstract table again. Nouns, adjectives, pronouns and participles inside real sentences, with immediate feedback on case, number and mood. 3. SENTENCES – THE HEART OF IT More than 3,100 hand-curated practice sentences, written for exactly the form you are working on. Analyse each part step by step across 15 areas that build on one another – from subject and predicate through ACI and NCI to the ablative absolute. 4. READING – THE GOAL When you are ready, matching texts unlock: Cicero, Caesar, Sallust, Livy, Virgil, the Vulgate. Over 130 text collections, matched to your level, with vocabulary help and sentence quiz. -------------------- WRITING, CURRICULUM, STORY -------------------- WRITE INSTEAD OF TYPE Latin is learned by hand. Write your answers with an Apple Pencil or your finger – in the vocabulary trainer, throughout the forms trainer, and in Stone by Stone. You decide what the pen is for: writing, drawing, both, or nothing. Nothing is forced – for a learner with dyslexia a keyboard is a recognised accommodation, not a shortcut. YOUR OWN DRAWING AS AN ANCHOR Draw your picture for a word – scribbles are fine, nobody else needs to recognise it. It stays with you through the repetitions and disappears once you no longer need it. A CURRICULUM, NOT A PILE OF TOPICS Four years, clearly ordered: what you learn in the first carries the second. Forms, sentences and reading follow the same progression – alongside any classroom. A STORY THAT GROWS WITH YOU 64 reading texts of our own for the first three years tell one story – in Latin, German and English, every sentence voiced. In the Reader, the sentences you solved grow together into a text you actually read. -------------------- WHAT MAKES LAPICIDA DIFFERENT -------------------- BUILT FOR DYSLEXIC LEARNERS, FROM EXPERIENCE Colours that carry meaning (subject blue, predicate red), OpenDyslexic, wider letter spacing, your own pace. Built by someone who learned Latin with dyslexia. PRONUNCIATION YOU CAN HEAR More than 28,000 voiced words, forms and sentences in classical Latin pronunciation. BUILT ON METHODS THAT HOLD UP Active recall and spaced repetition are among the best-evidenced methods in learning research. Sessions of 5 to 15 minutes are enough. NO PRESSURE, NO STREAK ANXIETY No lost points, no broken streaks. The system forgives typos and measures mastery, not attendance. PRIVACY-FRIENDLY, GDPR-COMPLIANT No ads, no forced account, no sharing of your data. Practice, forms and reading work offline; the photo scan, the audio and syncing need a connection. FOR TEACHERS AND SCHOOLS: THE OFFICINA Your own word lists, class management, progress at a glance. School licences on request. -------------------- WHO IS IT FOR? -------------------- Secondary school | Latin exam preparation | catching up on a Latin requirement | university (theology, history, law, teacher training) | dyslexia | self-study Try it without an account: basic grammar, selected readings, 5 vocabulary scans, one word list of your own. What's New in Lapicida Latinus

1.5.2.1

August 19, 2026

WRITE INSTEAD OF TYPE You can now write your answers with an Apple Pencil or your finger – in the vocabulary trainer, throughout the forms trainer, and in Stone by Stone. You decide what the pen is for: writing, drawing, both, or nothing. Nothing is forced. YOUR OWN DRAWING AS A MEMORY ANCHOR New: draw your own picture for a word – scribbles are fine, nobody else needs to recognise it. It stays with you through the repetitions and disappears once you no longer need it. 64 READING TEXTS OF OUR OWN For the first three years, 64 new texts tell one connected story – in Latin, German and English, every sentence voiced. THE READER Sentences you solved while reading grow together into a text you actually read. COLOURS THAT MEAN THE SAME EVERYWHERE The colours for parts of the sentence lived in three places in the code and had drifted apart. Now they all come from one source, and accusative and dative objects are finally easy to tell apart. WHAT FINALLY WORKS • Case help. A whole branch of finished explanations never fired – now it does. Same for the subjunctive help. • The welcome screen at large font sizes. You could neither get past it nor scroll. • Correct answers in the sentence quiz that were counted as wrong. • Cloud storage: for some users, progress stayed on an old value after a restart. The cause was a storage overflow from the word lists. Existing installations clean themselves up on first start. • Sentence quiz: genitive and ablative are scored correctly – correct answers were not counted in over 800 sentences. • Future I and Future II only; a single "future" no longer exists. • The ablative is classified correctly – as an adverbial, not an object case. Consistently in parsing, help texts and examples. MORE TO PRACTISE velle, nolle, malle · rex, pars, tempus · pater, homo, mare · acer, nullus · the fourth declension · the third-year subjunctive · future II · future participle · passive imperative. And every practice sentence is voiced. READING: AUTHOR HUB "Discover" is now sorted by author – with tiles, a short introduction and a filter by genre. Plus many small things: class colours in dark mode, "Stone by Stone" now looks like a wall, every screen change starts at the top again, and dialogues have a close button.
