Horrible app

How much worse can the app get? Wants me to log in every time? Gonna cancel. News isn’t accurate either.

Trash

There’s a bit of news sprinkled into the barrage of ads and popups in this garbage app

HORRIBLE

Most unstable app for what they call news. Birds doesn’t want it in their cage.

Paying for 1000s of Ads 👎

The pay version of this app has so many ads that you cant even brows the stories. Total rip off! Get your Vegas news elsewhere .

No I Don’t Want Notifications

The app asks for notifications every time I open it. No. I don’t want them. Can you please stop asking.

90% ads 10% news

Has opportunity to be the best LV news outlet, but only if you would remove the overly annoying ads. You can’t even open the app without being forced to close a legal advertisement and decline notifications on every single app access. This is the most ridiculously overloaded advertisement app I’ve ever experienced. Spend your $9.99/mo somewhere else.

Pop up and video

The same popup ad for that law firm and videos starting as soon as I open ap or an article is ridiculous. I have a subscription and you over advertise to me. I have a negative view of that law firm because of this pop up and if I wanted to watch videos I would go to youtube.

So many bugs..

Just subscribed. Keeps kicking me out of the app and telling me I’m not a subscriber. I love LVRJ but I’ll probably end up cancelling if I keep getting kicked out of my subscription. It is super buggy. Needs to be fixed.

Wished I’d never updated

This app went from okay to awful. I’m a subscriber and I’m still getting constant ad pop-ups in the app and pop-ups encouraging me to change my settings so I get notifications which I do not want… would give this current version of the app zero stars if I could.

More pop ups than a porn site

It’s not enough apparently that every time I go into the app I’m greeted by grinning lawyers asking if I’ve been injured. No, on top of that, IOS does a pop up over the other pop up reminding me to turn on notifications from the app. I don’t mind being asked once. But this is asking every single time. This should be fixed.

Makes you pay! Can’t read articles

The app is horrible. It also makes you pay to read the article in full. They don’t tell you this until you download it for free and realize articles can’t be read!

Could enjoy more without pop up video

I love that RJ has an app. But the pop-up video on every article is intrusive, making it my least preferred means to read the news.
Come on guys, we can click a link to watch a video on our own. We don’t need auto play messing things up.

All the Popups are annoying.

I love the newspaper and pay $20 a month for the online subscription. The online paper is great, but trying to read anything on the app, is really annoying as there are constant popups that just don’t allow you to enjoy it. I can see a free version, but not for a paid version. Seriously thinking to cancel my online subscription.

Thank you, I will pass that to the developers.

Less & Less Free Content

Look… I know the RJ needs to make money to survive. I get it. But more and more articles, even from alerts THEY send out, require a subscription.

Continued use has become frustrating.

I have deleted the app and no longer follow the RJ on X.

It’s a shame.

Good news - terrible app

The news itself is good. The app is terrible. Open a news story and about half the time it closes the app. I have never had a video be able to play. (Yes, my phone is up to date.)
While reading articles the ads often refresh moving the entire page and it can be difficult to find where you left off. Then a few moments later it happens again.
Good news — terrible app.

We have fixed these bugs and you should be able to read the stories without the refresh now. And the videos also work.

Not true journalism

I subscribed for almost a year and today they have endorsed a presidential candidate. Isn’t journalism supposed to be impartial? I don’t want my news source to be partial to a political party.

App still won’t open from email links!!

All the other apps I have with email subscriptions (Nevada Independent, New York times cooking, Americas test kitchen, among others) seem to have no problem opening the app when links are selected from emails except this one. Instead, it opens a web link that doesn’t know that I have a subscription so it warns me that I have limited access and I need to login. This is very annoying!

If you click on a notification on your phone, it opens in the app. If you click on an email, it opens in your default browser whether mobile or desktop.

Good source for local news but no in-app subscription

I don't have an issue with the app. It is a good source for local news. What is preventing me from subscribing is that there is no in-app subscription. The app store information states that there is an in-app purchase option. The app settings menu has a term of service that indicates the subscription will be through apple. However, when you click any of the subscription options it takes you to the RJ site. One of the best things about purchasing through in-app purchases is the ability to consolidate and easily manage all of your subscriptions in one place. No more having to figure out how to change or cancel a subscription. If you look at the fine print of RJs terms of service (after they forward you to their website to subscribe), you will find that the cancel process involves calling a number. You know how that goes. Hard no for me. Offer in-app and I'll subscribe.

Response from developer

Thank you for the review. We did used to have in app subscriptions, but now it is handled outside the app as you noted. We are unable to remove it from the description. You can visit our customer service help desk and chat to a representative if you need to cancel. Thank you.

Can’t open archived issues on my iPad

Although the app is usable to read today’s news, it refuses to open archived issues, merely reopening today’s.

App still won’t open

At least 3 to 4 times each week I must remove the entire app and reinstall. Only on occasion will it ask to update. Are they trying to drive readers away? It sure looks like it.
