Latent Photos Assistant

Two months of work since 1.1: a new first run, a quieter Settings, a new "Sort & Filter" page, and fixes for what people kept hitting. NEW • First launch now opens with three short silent clips of the real app clearing similar shots, tagging and reviewing, then asks for photo access. The old hands-on tour is gone, and the clips replay any time from Settings under "Welcome guide". • A new "Sort & Filter" page: sort by when a photo was captured or when it was added, group by day or not at all, and filter to a year or a month, tapping a second one to make a range. A live count shows how many photos match. • Settings is quieter. Each row is just its title and control, with the explanation behind a small (i), and "Album name = tag" and "Back up reviewed marks" now sit under "Sync tags to Photos albums". • The viewer shows the photo's capture date at the top, with the same weekday badge and color the grid uses. • A photo that still has not appeared after a few seconds now says "This photo isn't loading" and offers "Try Again", instead of spinning with nothing to tap. FIXED • Big deletes left photos behind: delete about 100 and roughly 20 stayed in the grid, and deleted shots popped back while Photos finished committing. The grid now checks that each deletion has landed, and remembers the batch across a relaunch. Deleted photos leave the app's index at once too, so they stop counting toward "Ready for similar photos" and stop turning up in Similar. • Delete could act on the photo you had just swiped away from. Delete, Similar, Compare, Review, favorite, tagging, copy and export now all resolve the photo on screen at the moment you tap. • The viewer could wedge: one failed load at full zoom turned every page you swiped to into blank white, and a photo could sit spinning all session. Blank pages now retry on their own, a photo that truly cannot be shown says so, and soft, gray or blank images are asked for again on the grid, the filmstrip, "Compare" panes and tag covers. • "Similar photos" holds its ground. Deleting the original keeps the rest of the group on screen, results refresh as indexing catches up, and leaving returns you to the photo you started from, not to wherever the match lived. • "Reset reviewed marks" now clears review status across your devices, not just the one you tapped, and the two housekeeping albums no longer show up as tags. • Pinching to zoom no longer flashes the grid behind the photo, a flick through your tags lands on the next one instead of skipping two, opening Settings keeps your place in the grid, and the thin dark line under photos is gone. • Cold launch showed the logo twice at different sizes over an English only line. One steady screen now, in your own language. • If the old tour left demo photos in your library, the app offers once to remove them and never asks again. FASTER • Preparing your library for "Similar" now works on several photos at once instead of strictly one after another, so "Ready for similar photos" climbs much faster. Opening a photo no longer throws away work already done, and preparation eases back to one photo at a time if the phone gets hot. • Indexing and reviewed marks moved off the thread that draws the screen, so scrolling keeps up while that work runs. NICER • With "Auto-mark reviewed" on, a photo is marked as soon as it is on screen, including the one you opened on. • Page turns give a small haptic tick, and Similar, Compare and Review tap back on every press. • Deletes now play out on the grid as one continuous motion instead of a sudden rearrange. • Long press menus read like the viewer's: Info, Copy, "Set as tag cover", and Delete on its own. Restore Purchases is a real button now, not small gray text. • The Photos access request speaks all 24 languages the app ships in, and the "Welcome guide" follows your text size and works with VoiceOver. • iPad gets a bigger launch mark, roomier guide clips, and grouped viewer buttons.
