Looks like I should have read this page first! I joined LL via desktop web browser and paid for one month only (thank goodness!).
Completely useless, buggy, crashing, spinning, stuck app.
Whoever owns LL obviously doesn’t give a damn.

Shadow of its former self
Lavalife was my go-to for online dating 20 years ago, and now that I’ve returned I’m somewhat disappointed. The app seems to have reasonable features, so the potential is there, but I must echo the reviews of others. The app is EXTREMELY buggy, and only loads on every 8-10 launches, and there are MANY times where it will not recognize my login data, only to randomly work after 3 or 5 or 12 attempts. The app spins/freezes when I attempt to purchase a subscription, so I never make it beyond the pricing screen and often have to restart the app. Seems the developers are don’t care much about the product, as I can’t even get past the login screen in a web browser on the actual website, so the issues extend far beyond the app. Sadly, the population on the platform is also very sparse. Had much better luck and experiences recently on Tinder, Bumble, and Plenty of Fish, so for those seeking try one of those instead. Sorry, LL.

Nothing but scammers on here ! This app used to be good but now it’s nothing but scammers that want you to use Hangout app ! And lavalife won’t even do anything about it !

I made a purchase for a six month subscription turns out they’re app is full of bugs and won’t even load the screen it stays on loading and when you reinstall app it doesn’t recognize login info I had to password reset to try to get back in An I still haven’t. Don’t know how to get a refund or I would get

Not the Lavalife from the turn of the millennium
I would vote zero stars, or report this company as thieves, but the possibility isn’t there.
I downloaded this app, remembering the cool connections that I made with people on the website with the same name, around 20 years ago.
The experience with this app, was in no ways analogous to my experience from the early 2000s.
Besides the fact that the app is super-glitchy, I subscribed and paid for 3 months; I was only able to access messages, and send messages for 1 month. I contacted Lavalife by phone to seek to regain access, and instead of looking up my account, and seeing what I paid and apologetically and preemptively crediting me, the representative “generously” granted me 2 days of access (on an account which had 15 more paid left days on it) to access the unopened messages. The 2 days didn’t work either.
Either they’re grossly incompetent, or they’re intentional rip-off artists.
The representative pretended to not know if I had paid for more months. If a -tech- company can’t look up, and serve people who paid them, they deserve to go the way of the dodo.
I’m tending to think that the accounts that reached out to me might have been fake to sway me into not canceling after day one.

Not syncing with website
Information entered on the website is not syncing properly with the app. For example, when I update my profile on the website, the information does not sync with the app. This needs to be fixed.
More than useless.
I cannot send messages to users despite being in the free trial period and the favourites list will allow me to save a profile but I go to view and there’s nothing there. Another crappy dating site with monkeys for developers.

Just signed up last night. Cannot log on and it looks like my whole created profile is no longer there! Hope this is just a small glitch because it's not a good start Lava... haven't been able to even begin searching. Please correct the glitches or I'm throwing the towel in without even starting. Update- can't even sign in on my laptop with login or fb yet I'm getting messages? Very frustrating. Have been on Lava years ago and it was good. They've definitely gone downhill. Can't even send a message on their FAQ section. Deleting my account. Total disappointment. Even POF is better and that's not saying much!!!!!

TelePersonals (pre-Lavalife) was fun and safe. I met some really nice folks, some of whom I am still friends with. We have nursed each other through relationships and reminisce about how much fun we had.
So, when I decided to increase my social circle, Lavalife was my first choice. I am so disappointed.
* The ONLY contacts I have received were from Nigerian Princes looking for a rich bride. They all have terrible grammar, syntax, punctuation. They list 2, 3, 4 locations with various area codes offered and invitations to text or call them NOW.
* There literally is no one in the lounge. EVER. I broaden my search. Still no one. I broaden my search again. Still no one. Regardless of day or time. EVERY TIME!!!
* The email platform is frustrating. It closes without notice or an opportunity to save comments in a draft.
* When trying to access the drop-down menus, repeated clicks may or may not open the menu I’m trying to open.
* I have yet to be able to search by entering a name.
* When browsing generally, the men are 5’2”, and live in Canada or Texas. Not one in the large metropolitan area where I live.
What a disappointing scam this has proven to be. I should have read the reviews first.

Cannot change Location in Location Services
When I try to change my location and asked me to turn on location services. Low and behold it is not there. I deleted and re-added the app still nothing.

App won't access my location even though it's turned on in iPad setting and with no option to enter postal code, when I set filter to 50 miles, I get matches from BC to PEI and Winnipeg to Hawaii!

Is Lavalife still in business?
The website is unusable because of JavaScript errors. The iOS app crashes every time you try to save preferences. It's not possible to even create a profile. Tech support is completely unresponsive. I have no idea what is going on at this company.
