About
LayerMap shows what Japan's official data says about any spot, in English. Tap and hold anywhere on the map to see it all in one card: flood depth, liquefaction, zoning, school districts, land prices and more.
Made for people who live in Japan, are moving here, or are buying property here, and can't easily read Japanese hazard maps or city websites.
WHAT YOU CAN CHECK IN JAPAN
- Hazards: river flooding, tsunami, storm surge and landslide warning areas, with the depth or class explained in plain words; liquefaction tendency, large-scale embankments and disaster hazard areas
- Planning: land use zones with building coverage and floor area ratios, urbanization control areas, fire prevention districts, district plans and official land prices
- Everyday: stations shown like a subway map, with line colors and station numbers (such as M17), railway lines in their own colors, bus stops, evacuation sites, elementary and junior high school districts, schools and hospitals
- Then and now: old topographic maps for 59 areas and aerial photos back to the 1940s, side by side with today in Compare mode
- Terrain: elevation of the spot you tap, color-coded elevation and hillshade
EVERY COLOR EXPLAINED
Each layer comes with its official legend, so you always know what a red area or a blue line means.
SITE REPORT
Save everything about a spot as a PDF, with sources. Handy when comparing apartments or talking to an agent.
BEYOND JAPAN
Some official maps from other countries are included too: flood maps for England, Scotland, Wales and parts of Europe, Australia and the US coast; historical maps and aerial photos for France, Switzerland, Spain and more; and color-coded elevation for the whole world. Coverage outside Japan is partial.
FREE AND PRO
Stations, railway lines, bus stops and evacuation sites are free. Pro unlocks every layer, Compare mode, presets, the full site card and PDF reports.
