L’ambiance du jeu est digne d’un véritable professeur Layton et le format épisodiques apporte de la fraîcheur mais il souffre malheureusement d’une histoire des plus niaises et d’énigmes parfois trop faciles. C’est dommage car l’ADN de la série Layton est d’offrir un mystère digne de se nom couplé à des énigmes challengentes.

Not Professor Layton, but still fantastic
Loved this same! Clearly level-5 worked hard to produce more content for their games in transitioning to mobile. As other reviewers said, the split-screen is definitely annoying but you get used to it, it actually makes the gameplay a little slower paced which greater highlights the storyline. Dialogue was cute and the characters were quirky. Loved that there were more puzzles in this game than any other Layton game! Also I think longer game play time! 14 hrs for me not including extras. However most of the puzzles were nowhere near as challenging as the original Professor Layton games, there were so many hint coins in every location, and I guessed almost every single case result well before the storyline got there (apart from the last two) - was this game geared more towards children? One uniquely annoying thing was the moving around took an unnecessarily long time, it was awkward to tap so many things and not have a full map all the time. I preferred the more traditional map in previous games. Overall I think they did a fantastic job, I love Kat she’s a bold spunky unapologetically girly girl and I love that in a protagonist. More Katrielle Layton please Level-5!

En revanche, la format du jeu je ne sait pas si j’adhère.
J’aime beaucoup le fait des petites enquêtes mais je pense que faire 10 enquêtes qui n’ont aucun rapport avec le titre du jeux, et que le titre prend son sens à la dernière enquête qui n’a pas de rapport avec les précédente, ça laisse vraiment perplexe. J’aimer énormément le principe du fait que tout le jeux repose sur une histoire complète comme les versions précédentes . Je m’attendais par exemple à ce qu’elle retrouve son père ?
Malgré ça, si un prochain jeux sort, je n’hésiterai pas à l’acheter en espérant qu’ils prennent le principe des anciennes versions 🙂

Avis mitigé
Grand fan de la saga Layton, j’ai été ravi de découvrir l’histoire du point de vue de sa fille qui est un personnage tout aussi attachant. Ce que je reproche à cet opus est le manque d’originalité comparé aux autres oeuvres sorties auparavant (la boîte de pandore étant mon épisode préféré) qui avaient une trame narrative bien plus intéressante. Cet épisode fait écho entre deux chapitres mais pas plus, c’est fort dommage...
Cependant l’ambiance reste tout aussi plaisante pour l’expérience de jeu et les énigmes tout aussi complexes que les premiers épisodes.

A fitting continuation
As a long time avid fan of the series, possibly my all time favourite franchise, I was so excited to play this, and the second I saw that opening video and heard that music, I knew I would not be disappointed.
Apart from the odd puzzle that is a bit cruel, this game is a perfect entry to the series- with a beautifully cryptic story, great voice acting and characters, fun point and click gameplay and clever puzzles, this is a brilliant game that lives up to the Layton name, and is perfect for long time fans and new ones.
Side note- WHEN WILL WE GET ANOTHER ONE?!

Un bon reboot de la série
Très bonne adaptation de la saga Layton sur mobile. Des affaires plus petites et probablement plus adaptées pour des téléphones portables. Des graphismes modernes qui font penser au Masque des Miracles sur 3DS mais en HD.
Anciens fan comme moi, foncez ! C’est un vrai Layton mais un reboot de la série avec une nouvelle histoire. Ne vous attendez pas à un des plus grands jeux de la saga mais l’essentiel est là pour apprécier le jeu et revivre un bon moment en compagnie de là successeur du grand Professeur Layton.

Refreshing
This game lights up my life. Having played all the PL games I love it! It’s adorable and I love the aesthetic. Kat is an engaging character and no Mary Sue for sure.
Far too much dialogue
Thoroughly enjoyed Professor Layton, Curious Village as puzzles were easy to understand and the game flowed. Unfortunately with this game found some puzzles quite misleading but main problem was far too much dialogue. Spent most of the time tapping screen to get to a puzzle and finally gave up.
Keeps freezing
Really looked forward to playing this after enjoying the original.
Completely frustrated because at level 2 the game will not allow me to progress. What a waste of time.

Rubbish
This game has far to much dialogue and very few puzzles and when you do find them they are far to easy, very infantile, I get the feeling the game is more suited to young children and costs far to much, not a patch on the DS games as I said in the title utter rubbish.

doch wurde Ich(17 Jahre) als großer Fan der Nintendo DS Spiele enttäuscht.
Positiv:
-Grafik/Steuerung: Die Grafik ist schön anzusehen, zwar anders als die vorherigen Teile was für mich aber kein Nachteil darstellt. Die Steuerung läuft auf dem 6s flüssig und ist einfach zu bedienen.
-Charaktere: Die Charaktere sind wie in allen Layton Spielen schön dargestellt und besitzen ihren eigenen markanten Charakter.
- Koffer: Ein recht kleiner Punkt aber für den ein oder anderen vielleicht interessant. Der Koffer ist finde ich wie immer gut gelungen: Schöne Oberfläche, die Standartoptionen wie Notizen, Rätselindex, etc. sind natürlich auch vorhanden und ebenso gibt es neue Minispiele die auch gut gelungen sind. Hier fehlt es an nichts.
Negativ:
-Story: Wer sich eine lange und komplexe Geschichte wie in den alten Teilen erhofft hat wird hier schwer enttäuscht sein. Es gibt hier kein großes Mysterium welches erst ganz zum Schluss aufgelöst wird und man vorher keine Ahnung hat was des Rätsels Lösung ist. Man bekommt hier 12 Fälle vorgesetzt wobei einer lächerlicher ist als der andere (z.B. muss man in einem “Fall“ eine Geburtstagsfeier planen oder man muss den verschwundenen Superheld Ratman, die Muckimaus der Gerechtigkeit finden) was mich zu meinem nächsten Punkt führt.
- zu Kindlich: Es gibt in fast keinen Fall einen “Bösewicht“, einen Don Paolo, gegen den man in spannenden Fällen ermittelt. Die Fälle sind meist vorhersehbar und strotzen nur so vor Naivität. Dies ist auf Dauer sehr frustrierend wenn es am Ende jedes Falls ein Happy End gibt, wo jeder glücklich und zufrieden ist und hinter jedem “Verbrechen“ eine gute Absicht oder ein Unfall steckt.
- Rätsel: Diese sind meiner Meinung nach größtenteils zu einfach und auch zu Kindlich gehalten, wobei ich über den kindlichen Aspekt hinwegsehen könnte, wenn die Rätsel anspruchsvoller wären. Die gestellten Rätsel haben hier oft mehr mit Herumprobieren zu tun, als mit tatsächlichem Nachdenken.
Fazit:
Das Spiel ist für Kinder sicherlich nicht schlecht, da für die die ganzen Negativpunkte wegfallen, doch für die älteren Fans der Reihe die sich einen Titel ganz der alten Art wünschen wird sich dieser Teil der Reihe wahrscheinlich als Enttäuschung erweisen.

Layton’s dialogue reading simulator
I’ve loved previous games on the DS but the puzzles here seem really weak and sporadic. About 4 hours in, I played for an hour. In that time, I found 4 puzzles, which I completed in seconds. The rest of the time I was reading dialogue. I don’t mind the price tag for a good game, but this was just boring. Deleted.

Just like the Nintendo game but better
I don’t usually do reviews but I have always loved the Professor Layton games and this is something special. However, I find that having to buy the DS, 3DS etc to play them all, limiting. I haven’t played the full game yet so I don’t know whether it’s a good length or not but it’s exactly like it used to be but now you can use the top screen which wasn’t available on the DS. This has been used well. Turning the screen can get annoying but it’s only occasional so doesn’t warrant losing a star. Great quality and fantastic work, even if it’s an expensive app.
I think that the old games should also move to IOS at a reduced price or as a bundle (it’s not a new storyline) so children who never had the first DS can play the old games. I would buy it certainly. Good job!

Layton wie auf dem Nintendo DS
Der Preis ist ziemlich hoch, aber dafür hat sich das Spiel gelohnt. Ich hoffe es kommt bald ein neuer Teil raus.
Einfach genial!
Ich liebe die Layton-Reihe und dieses vermittelt genau dieses Gefühl beim Spielen. Die Rätsel sind knifflig aber nicht zu schwer. Man hat andauernd etwas zum knobeln und raten. Es ist einfach super gelungen. Ich kann es jedem nur empfehlen der die Reihe geliebt hat. Mit Filmsequenzen und allem was den Flair der Layton Spiele ausmacht. Zudem finde ich es als App praktischer da man sein Smartphone sowieso immer bei sich hat.
Alles in allem wirklich ein tolles Spiel.

Decent game, but nothing special
I found this game decent. The puzzles were ok, but rarely sublime. The interface was held back by being a very basic Nintendo ds port (emulating the two screens on the iPhone).
The stories were ok, but, for the most part, I play for the puzzles and the stories became an obstacle to get to the next puzzle.
The puzzles were disjointed, often having no connection to their location in a scene.

Sadly boring
Sooooo longwinded. Far too much dialogue and the puzzles are really easy and a lot are very, very similar so you’re reading 8 novels to do pretty much the same puzzle that you did in the last case. Really disappointed :(
