Lazaretto provides a deeply atmospheric and surreal horror experience. It aims to create tension and fear through its decaying environments, eerie sound design, and the psychological impact of its narrative. The game is designed to be unsettling and to make players question reality.
A lazaretto is historically a quarantine station for maritime travelers. Urban exploration, in the context of this game, refers to investigating rare, abandoned man-made ruins and structures, such as the creepy quarantine island featured in Lazaretto.
