Amazing Cello App
The biggest highlight for me is the music. It’s amazing to play real, recognisable pieces rather than the boring MIDI-style exercises that so many other apps use. The selection is fantastic too – a really great mix that keeps things interesting and motivating.
I also love how gamified the learning experience is. It makes practising fun and gives you that extra push to reach 100%. The feedback on note accuracy and timing is incredibly impressive as well – it even notices when a string is slightly out of tune, which shows how well-designed it is.
There are just a couple of small improvements I’d suggest. The text/notes can be quite small on iPhone, and I sometimes struggle to read them clearly. It would also be really helpful to have an automatic restart when you make a mistake, rather than needing to press buttons while holding the bow.
The only downside for me is that I’ve now completed all the lessons – including the entire Section 2 Advanced section – and feel like I’ve run out of content. I’d love to progress further, especially into higher positions beyond first position, and to learn more advanced techniques like vibrato.
Is there any plan to introduce an “Experienced” level, or is this currently in development?
I truly love this app and just don’t want to stop learning with it – thank you for creating something so enjoyable and inspiring.
