Not much to review
I've been using it for about 5 minutes, and it asked for a review, so here it is.
Based on 5 minutes use, it's a fun app, but there is a reason it asks force review after 5 minutes: After 10 or so itvrequires purchase.
I'm not sure whether I'll feel the same way after the many hours I usually spend with good apps. Shooting a few common characters is fun, but any kid with a dictionary and some app developing knowledge could write such an app. The question is whether the app actually is designed linguistically well.
Another noticeable drawback for my needs is the lack of a traditional character option.
Not worth purchasing at this point.

Review
Like the quiz more than the shooting game. It is difficult to hit those things even if you know which one it is.
Chinese bubbles is great fun. Try it and I promise you'll like it.
Fun way to exercise your brain. Helps build vocabulary.
Sound bug
There is no sound! (I'm using an IPad Air)

Really recommend this for beginners.
Good but....
The sound of the voice is FAR too quiet. Also, can't you make the apps compatible with iPads? :(

Awesome but...
Well honestly this app is great for learning the language! The shooting game.... Meh seems unnecessary as "the take a quiz" option seems to do more justice.
I did end up buying it though because i found the game and quiz combined with my own writing it down has helped ingrain the language into memory.
Id say make it .99¢ with add removal in app. Let us have unlimited lives from the start. Maybe make it possible to move the ship left and right to dodge incoming fire, maybe as the levels progress you'll have to construct sentences or answer a question correctly. Make the enemies fly in at random from the other side of the screen so it challenges quick thinking on using the language.
Just some thoughts.

So far so good
I just finished the basic section. I'm going to China in one month. I hope this thing will help me avoid entering the ladies' room, grabbing something too hot, or sitting on a wet paint bench.
Fun little game
Not quite as challenging as I'd prefer, but fun concept and a great review for me a former fluent speaker

Excellent way to lear the Chinese ABC's and basics.
This app seems good.
I like the quizzes but the game is a little tricky. I'd rather tap on the right bubble than shoot something. I know which one is right. But a good app overall! I feel like I'm learning Chinese. Also the pronunciation seems helpful and sounds very much like a native speaker.

It was a good way to learn how to recognize the characters. The game side of it was kind of annoying but the quizzes were very helpful.
Great design for a fun way to learn and reinforce vocabulary
Wish this supported traditional as well as simplified. Other than that I Really like the design - helps me learn the characters, pinyin and pronunciation simultaneously. After playing the basic level for ten mins I was immediately convinced the $1.99 in app purchase to unlock more vocabulary/levels was worth it. The shooter game play is not especially interesting but I think that's actually a good thing as my brain is focusing on learning the characters. I likes the test format too - alternates between having me pick the character or pinyin - and I'm eager to learn both. Again just wish it had option to toggle to traditional (and maybe some sort of indicator that a given character has a different simplified vs. traditional form).

Good app for learning characters
I needed something to supplement my learning from another program and this fits the bill perfectly. It makes you relate characters to both the English word and the phonetic mandarin word. Definitely recommended.
Fun to play
Good for absorbing characters in a fun way. Definitely not a comprehensive language teacher, but it's a nice supplement to one
One of the best Chinese learning games, but...
Having purchased quite a few Mandarin Chinese learning games, I know which I like to play and which I don't.
I like this one.
Along with Chinese Writer (and others by Train Chinese), this is the game I get the most out of and here's why.
In this game you are presented with Chinese text bubbles that are written in Simplified Chinese Characters. You are to shoot these bubbles, once prompted, with a non-moving spaceship at the bottom of the screen. It works most of the time but is so slow you have to shoot one bubble length in front to hit the correct one. Once you get the timing down, it shouldn't be a big deal though. I like that the words in each section are limited, but I would like to have more words per exercise for more of a challenge. I also like that the words are given twice, once showing the pinyin, character, and spoken along with the meaning in English, and once with just the spoken word. I kinda wish I could turn on/off the pinyin for more Character work, however.
The word lists look extensive, but I can't seem to get past the first segment in each, even with perfect scores on each level. That's ok as I'm having fun playing the current levels, but I'd like to have what looks like the app is meant to have.
One last thing...
I don't like how aggressive the app seems to be in regards to asking for app reviews. Nearly every screen asks for it with popups. Not cool
