We are glad you like our recordings of native Faroese male and female speakers!😊(We worked with native Faroese translators to guarantee accuracy.) We are also impressed that you want to take your Faroese learning to the next level. Grammar lessons are not something we currently offer because our apps are designed to be used by speakers of more than 100 different languages, not just English. We’re so pleased our uTalk Classic app has helped you practise your Faroese before your visit to the islands! Faroese is a fascinating language related to both Old Norse and Icelandic and is used by about 90% of the population in the Faroe Islands. Interestingly, the name Føroyar (Faroe Islands) is derived from old Norse and means ‘Sheep Islands’, a name given by settlers arriving from Norway in the 9th century. Our uTalk Classic app contains around 250 words of phrases, all voiced by native Faroese speakers. The words were all selected as being the best starting out point for beginners - eg greetings, food and drink, colours and numbers - and the app includes fun games to help you remember what you’ve learned. We are disappointed that this doesn’t meet your needs, you are clearly a more advanced learner who would like more of a challenge. Please contact support@utalk.com so we can chat to you.
