Learn Hausa User Reviews

Very disappointed. This app needs work.

WORDY REVIEW WARNING!

The gist is this: This app needs improvements (suggested below). DO NOT BUY IT IN ITS CURRENT STATE. Devs, if you’re reading, please either make the changes I suggest or stop trying to make a profit from this app.

When I spent my $8, I was expecting something like Duolingo, but specifically for Hausa. This app is NOTHING like that. Once you complete all the “games”, it’s almost as if you’re done learning the language… except that’s not how language-learning works! There are no helps, no review sessions, no reminders for accountability, nothing. People learning Hausa need lessons, not games.

On another note, in the food and countries section, why is there no inclusion of foods that would be familiar to speakers of Hausa (e.g., fufu, egusi, chin-chin, suya, cassava) or countries where Hausa would be spoken (e.g., NIGERIA)? Seriously, this app needs to be stripped and reworked. I might as well have bought a dictionary. If Duolingo taught Hausa, I’d use that instead because it would be FREE. I regret spending money on this.

All that said, if the developers are reading my review (they probably aren’t) PLEASE MAKE THESE IMPROVEMENTS. If you want to profit on your product, make it a product that’s actually worth something. Otherwise, make it a free download, because that’s what it’s worth in its current state.

Not worth the price !very sloppy no daily important content

Not worth the price ! Does not teach everyday phrases for daily basic communication This app is not good at all not well thought out. Cannot teach the user to communicate out the gate not set up well. I have over 20 language apps so I know a good app and this is not it. Hmmmm.

Response from developer

We are sorry to hear you are unhappy. Our app includes around 250 Hausa words and phrases, which were chosen as the most useful words for beginners to learn in the language. We also employed two native-speaking translators and two native speaking voice artists who all worked with us on it. We pay rigorous attention to every detail of our apps so we’d appreciate if you could get in touch with us at support@utalk.com so we can find out more and, if you’re interested, point you in the direction of more Hausa content. Best wishes, Sarah
