Great application.

I’ve used this app for a while and I’ve got to say even the free version is such a huge help.

Hands down the best in the App Store for Japanese Language!

I’ve had this app for quite a few years now. It is my favorite of all the Japanese Language apps I’ve tried, well worth the cost to upgrade to the paid version as well. I love the easy access to my favorites, the quizzes and audio tracks. This is hands down the best bang for your buck on the App Store for Japanese Language learning!

Amazing for a free app

This app is amazing! From the first day, I learned how to read in Japanese a little! You do have to work on it, but this app makes studying super easy and effective. I am blown away by how much I'm learning and will buy the advanced app when I'm done learning all the many lessons from this app if this continues :) this app never crashed on me, and that seems to be the only main complaint people have. Perhaps they had an older version and the app got updated. Anyways, even if you know nothing, I highly recommend this app. You will only learn if you try though.

Thank a bunch to developers! Going to pass N5 :)

I've never ever wrote any reviews, but this app is an exception. It provides you an opportunity to learn kana, japanese phrases and words quickly and easily. You can hear a pronuncation of each word by the way. What's more, it has grammar lessons and other fun stuff like jokes from developers :)
I have only one complaint.... Why this app includes only a few kanji's stroke order? Hope, you guys will add stroke order to every remaining kanji in future updates! ☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆
P.S. Greetings from Russia \(^o^)/

Very easy!

This is a great app. I've been trying to learn Japanese recently, but everything I was trying was just all over the place. They were tossing things at you and you don't know what going on. This app however, makes it really simple and easy to understand. And teaches you in a fun way that makes it stay in your head. I've only started using this since last week and I can already read quite a bit of words in hiragana and katakana (kanji is annoying, lol). If u wanna learn japanese easily, this app works

一番! The best! Support this app!!

Wow, this app is truly amazing and makes japanese easy to learn. I just started yesterday and feel so confident due to the comprehensive and well-structured hiragana lessons that I will be shutting off the romaji (English alphabet) very soon. Try it!! I have been using the free version. It's a great app. The interface can be a little confusing and needs refinement, and it would be awesome to be able to practice and search by typing/writing the symbols, but the teachers/developers are off to an excellent start. Support this app!!

sound bytes and kanji

it's pretty extensive considering it's free. it has a flash card option, and quiz section which let's you select a lesson or multiple lessons to be quizzed on.

I've taken a Beginning Japanese class at my college, so i already knew how to read hiragana and katakana, but it's been a while so i'm kinda slow at it. I don't know that many kanji symbols because that was in the japanese 102 class which i didn't take.

This app has a lot of conversational phrases and alternative words for the same meaning even same kanji.

I just wish they had the option of having the answers in the quiz section written out in japanese or romaji instead of the english translation of the phrase/kanji.

in the kanji quiz, i would end up listening for the pronunciation or use process of elimination, instead of remembering the symbol.
perhaps if the question was in hiragana or romaji and the option was to select the correct kanji to match up, i'd remember it. still it's pretty good especially since it's free.

It's way better then the others!

If you're looking to learn Japanese, download this one! It was a bit confusing to navigate at first, but now I'm loving it!
I've been trying to learn Japanese for quite some time and even took classes. They helped but I find this working almost as well!
Lastly, it doesn't just tell you phrases, but the actual meanings of the particles! The only downside is it crashes sometimes :/ good luck!!

Fantastic

I went to Japan this summer with my family, and I really wish I'd seen this earlier. We got to be a part of the unique Japanese culture but weren't able to communicate with them effectively - we were always searching for English speakers to help us. This applications would have been great to have, now that I think about it - it's easy to use, has a huge database of phrases and the full version is pretty cheap. It all coalesces into the perfect definition of a good Japanese-learning application. Highly recommended!

Japanese Language

This app is surprisingly useful and very adapted to today's era , I would like it more tho if I can accomplish more like writing , or translating any word to Japanese in sentence form or by itself , I would also prefer if it also had interactive talking to another individual to say the correct for the appropriate situation , and also it would be better to place correct way to say things in Japanese and perhaps more expansion of words , sayings , and reading skills

One of my Top 3 Study Apps!

This app is one of top 3 I use everyday to study for my JLPT tests and to keep my Japanese skills sharp. There is a new update, 3.3.1, that should be available. If you have an issue with the install stalling after applying the update, just reboot your device and that should clear it up. If you are still having problems, please report the issue through iTunes and/or the developer's website. They are very responsive and depend on your feedback keep this app running smoothly.

Giving negative reviews because the app clashes is a bit much if you haven't even reported the problem in the first place to get it resolved. Be proactive. Report Bugs and Get them Resolved.

Blew my mind

I would suggest this to about everyone who would like to learn Japanese. It was quick and intuitive and before a month, I found myself speaking actual sentences in Japanese. The layout was perfect in my opinion. If you learn to write first, rather than know what the writing means, it becomes much easier. I actually learned more in a month than someone who didn't use this app. The quizes are an amazing feature where you can find out what you actually know verses what you need to brush up on. I would suggest upgrading from the free version rather than jumping to this one right away, this way if you do not think this is for you, you won't lose money. Get the full version when you know it is right for you, you won't be sorry.

No Sound, Even With Reboot

In my opinion, audio is essential when learning a completely foreign language. Without it, a lot of doubt is raised once you get to the actual speaking part. This app has a lot to off, no joking, and the written content alone is worth three stars. But, it completely lacks the sound. The app has many references to tapping words and listening carefully to how they arer pronounced but all I get is silence. I've tried multiple times with no avail (even buying the full version!) and the sound just won't work. That is very disappointing. Please fix the audio problem soon!

Great app! Highly recc....

Found out I was heading to Japan for 10 days and downloaded at the last minute. I was happily surprised to find on the flight over how good this app is.
You can create your library of flashcards w pronunciation spoken by a native speaker. Very useful for a beginner like me! I arrived in Japan able to already speak a few simple polite greetings/phrases thanks to this app! For fun, I was able to speak a few bonus proverb phrases included like: "Even dust, when piled up, will form a mountain."

Thanks for helping me learn some Japanese!

Bite-sized Japanese learning for busy people (Free Version)

I know you're having the same dilemma I had, you would like to learn the Japanese language so you can read your favorite manga or watch your favorite anime without the need of a translation or subtitles. Of course, you don't know where to start or, maybe you don't have enough time in the day to read over a few words and memorize them. If you have either of these two problems then I recommend you this wonderful app. In a matter of minutes I learned a few Japanese words easily. The small, summarized lessons let's you look over them through the day and easily let's you memorize them. You work at your own pace and the quizzes in between the chapters let's you look over how much you've learned, or could serve as a nice little refresher if you need to touch up on a few things. There's also some helpful study and flash cards if you need to review some more. You can also look up words in Romanji with the included dictionary and it gives you an audio and visual example of that word or sentence. In a few weeks, you'll be able to understand basic Japanese text with little to no help at all! Really, this a great app for beginners who would like to learn a new language at their own pace or for people who already have knowledge of the language but would like a little refresher every now and then while on the go. I give it a full 5 star rating!

With persistance, learning Japanese = EASY MODE

It uses two out of three modes of learning. The quizzes at the end are the best. It really helps the student learn and memorize efficiently. It's only been 2 weeks since I've had this app and I'm already familiar with half the Hiragana alphabet and most of common language. Although it may be hard to pronounce and copy the audio while its saying the word, with practice it's a piece of cake

Simple but effective

Ok I was kindof sceptical at first bcuz of lack of reviews but once I did download this app I knew it was worth way more than free. This app is the best free Japanese language app I've found so far here. The layout is easy to follow the sound isn't to bad ether; I like the fact it has a flashcard/quiz section for faster learning. I would deffinitly upgrade but sadly I spent my last iTunes credit on music... So I guess I'll have to go to the store today and get some more. A deffinite keeper if you have the smallest budget possible (like me at the moment).

Best beginner, intermediate language app

All I can really say is WOW! I've used different language apps as far as Korean, French, and Japanese and this app by FAR is the best for what it's made for. Built in study cards/flash, tests, great quality voice to hear pronunciations, and used for purpose of learning and upholding actual conversation. I opened the app and even in the first 10 mins of browsing through, I felt relaxed knowing how confident I would easily be able to learn a bit of Japanese! Well worth being FREE people! I will definitely be buying the upgrade and if any other language dev reads this review, please make it the same way! I prefer Korean and French! And thank you for this wonderful app! Just made my day xD

Everything Japanese is of superb quality or what

。I love this application. I was looking for a cantonese program but i came accross this and I thought I'd check it out since it's free. This application is the bomb. The developers put so much work into it. I can tell these people have a passion for teaching the language and have the brain and talent to do it so well and exquisitively by the way the program is strucuted and designed. The audio is clear. The notes of how the phrases are used appropriately culturally are wonderful. I've just scanned through the program and I feel like I'm taking a serious course in class. Tell me that this program is written by great scholars. How do I purchase the full version? Do I have to go to the website or is it available on app store? This is the best language program by far I can't believe this version is even free. Thank you for your generosity and passion about the language.
