Claiming to help kids but doesn’t read anything just shows text and I have to read it to my child to understand it not worth the money. Doesn’t help iep kids.

I am NOT a teacher
Turns out that I am not a teacher. Over the summer I tried to help my soon to be kindergartener start learning how to read. Between her frustrated tears, my short patience, and lots of arguing, I realized this wasn’t helping either of us. I looked up different programs to use to help my daughter. I did some research on different apps and settled on reading.com. I was hoping it wasn’t a scam program based on the name. We downloaded it and off we went. We spent three months, 15 minutes a day, knocking out lessons. She LOVED it. She wasn’t crying, I wasn’t crying, we were all winning! It was absolutely mind blowing to see the skills build and watch my 5 year grasp reading and enjoy it! Well, we finished it and I can’t stop telling all my friends about it! 10/10!

Scam
Tried the trial for 7 or 14 days but was given the 1 yr subscription option. Before trial ends, tried to cancel but still charged with a yr of subscription which is $81. Apple told us that free trial was only 1 day and not 7 or 14 days. Now we have to pay it because it won't let us download any other app. Don't fall for this. My son is not even interested of using the app. It's a big scam. We got scammed!

IT REALLY WORKS!
My youngest started this at 4 years old and it has taken us 8 months to get through. The pacing is great, the games and interactive learning is so much fun and, most importantly, my newly 5 year old is reading chapter books. She’s absolutely at a 2nd grade reading level- the program does not lie! It’s worth every penny! We are so impressed with it! My little girl read two whole Junie B Jones chapter books from her older sisters collection yesterday- just on her own, barely needed any help aside from funny sounding names of characters. (Those are 3rd grade and up levels apparently) We are absolutely shocked! Just give the program a try, you won’t regret it!

Worth every penny
I highly recommend this app for anyone who wants to help their child learn to read.

Same lessons
I thought this would be a better program but it seems like they have the same lessons for children of all ages and is not very appropriate for my 2 children who are two different ages. Not twins.
My 3 and 4 year old can read!
I would reccomend this to every mom I know. It’s fun, simple and really effective. Both my kids completed the entire course over a 4 month period. And they both cried happy tears on the last lesson because it felt so special. Not only did it teach my kids to read, it was also a lesson in perseverance, focus and gave them such a confidence boost. We loved this app! Now I would like to request this form for learning new languages please!

Not impressed
My child didn’t learn a thing from this app. What took my husband and I two days to teach by paper and sitting down with her this couldn’t do. They don’t teach the alphabet in order which is the first thing that needs to be fixed, it moves too quickly from one letter to the next. Paid too much for this.

Trial
Requires you to sign up for the FREE trial WITH payment and puts you for a YEAR automatically. You can set a reminder for so many days before your trial ends, but it definitely DOES NOT send you the reminder. CONVENIENT RIGHT?! I’m out $81 since they DID NOT send me a reminder and my kid wants NOTHING to do with this app. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Only allows one lesson per day
I was disappointed with the program because it only allowed my child to complete one lesson per day. She completed the assessment prior to starting, but Lesson 22 was very basic and primarily reviewed words and sounds she already knew. She completed it quickly and was ready to move on to the next lesson.
Unfortunately, the program only allowed her to “review” the following lesson rather than actually complete it. This left her bored and frustrated because she wanted to continue learning at her own pace.
I ultimately cancelled the subscription after the free trial. I think the program could be much more effective if children who demonstrate mastery could progress through lessons without a one-lesson-per-day restriction.
Unfortunately, the program only allowed her to “review” the following lesson rather than actually complete it. This left her bored and frustrated because she wanted to continue learning at her own pace.

Amazing App
My son is only three and he is doing so well, he bugs me to do the lessons! His favorite part is the letter writing/tracing, he looks forward to that part, and thinks it’s a game! Today he sounded out his first word ! I was impressed!
Going great so far!
We are only on lesson 8 but my adhd son enjoys it, stays engaged, looks forward and wants to do it every day and is learning to read!
