About

LearnWords is a small app designed to improve your vocabulary. You get to decide which words to learn. Along with animated word cards LearnWords offers dictation and speech recognition exercises to help memorizing the words. Each word has its progress indicator. Study your way: you may manually mark the word as known or unknown, skip words. Whenever you might want to look up the word in an extended dictionary you can. Just download it beforehand — for free. You can make your own word sets for lessons, books and more. There is export/import capability which lets you share and exchange word sets. You can add words one by one or import them from text files or as text from any other app via share action. This will add several words at once to the current word set. The text for the import should consist of rows of type "foreign word : native word, native synonym". If you stumble upon an interesting word you can share this single word to LearnWords — it will offer to add it to the current set. Speech recognition requires internet connection. Other features work offline. The app itself gathers no data, contains no advertisement.

What's New in Learn Words Lite

1.2.2

September 15, 2026

• Word statistics: touch and hold a word for a quick look, then tap for the full picture — how long it will stay in memory, when it's due next, and how you're doing in each exercise. • Set summary: touch and hold a set to see how many words are learned, learning and untouched in each exercise, and what comes due over the next two weeks. • "Learned" now means learned in every exercise you practise, with successes on separate days. Choose how many in Settings ("Successful days needed"). • Adding words: the app warns before a duplicate, and words separated by commas become synonyms of one meaning — split them with "These are separate meanings". • Import no longer drops hyphenated words, accepts the em dash, and reports what was added, what was already in the set, and which lines it couldn't read. • The Home Screen widget updates as soon as your words change. • Large sets open faster.
