Decent app, but paying to color is crazy!!

Thankfully I mainly needed this app to sketch my drawing, but the line work tools were extremely limited, and having the ability to access colours being blocked by a paywall is honestly very bad when there’s apps like Adobe Fresco that are free! Shoutout to Walter though, he’ll always have a special place in my heart ❤️

Could’ve been the best drawing learning app

Although this app was abandoned 4 years ago without recent updates, I write this review as a plea to the developers and people in charge to consider revamping this real drawing learning app.

For years I watched others a few others try to make drawing teching apps, and most didn’t come near teaching the way this app does from the book lessons. Even now, no app is on this level of teaching making a drawing from shapes, using proper tools, and shading, and so on. The complaints and bad reviews are just people frustrated with the app not being updated anymore. I don’t know what happened or if the licenses are still good but this app could be a moneymaker and no doubt should have been.

Walter Foster has long made some of the best books on teaching how to actually learn to draw. I own some of the books these lessons are based on. There are a ton of books on drawing but not many are made to actually teach the skill by people qualified to teach it. But Walter Foster books are. They look older and don’t have eye catching huge flashy titles like “Draw 50 monsters.” (Those books don’t teach, it’s just someone who copied parts of the design over into steps. That’s not how you learn drawing. Drawing is shapes, and training the eye to draw them, usually from big to smaller details, just way Walter Foster does in these lessons.)

really hard to learn

It’s hard to learn with this app. Plus when I was catching my Dragon and the app glitched and it didn’t save it

Terrible. Not good beginners , for learning basics

Doesn’t teach drawing basics or any technique. It only shows a picture and how to copy it. Not good for learning basics

My PAID FOR lessons don’t download after buying a new iPad.

I’ve bought most of the IAP’s in the past but, since changing my iPad and choosing ‘restore purchases’ the downloads just sit there doing nothing.

Waste of time

Don’t waste your time

No longer fully supported?

I enjoyed the first drawing tutorial, which is free, but I have quite a bit of drawing experience and experience with digital art software. The big problem is that none of the other “books” of lessons will download. I tried to go to walterfoster.com, which is listed in the app, but it appears the website no longer exists — it doesn’t load and does not appear in search engines. You can do one free drawing of a Dingo and that’s it.

I love it!!!❤️

It’s best with the Apple Pencil or stylus.❤️

There is a glitch

There is a glitch 60 percent of the time when u lift your pencils to colour or draw it will Erase the whole drawing and the back button won’t let u go back to where u where and u have to start over. The app needs more colours the colours are just to basic for some of the drawings love spending my time on this app. Please fix the app as it is my favourite one willing to spend more money on it for more drawing if this glitch is fixed.

Not for me

No Apple pen support so you’re drawing with a finger. If you want to get color swatch you pay to even start. Each little pack of outlines will cost you. IMO not worth downloading.

Hard if you’re trying to learn

I recommend this app for artists with experience but if you’re a beginner I would suggest getting a different app OR buy a book about sketch art

Not very practical

This app is well made for its purposes but not very practical for the user. It would be better to teach how to draw on iPad, specifically what settings to use, not so much how to draw traditionally. That would be more useful. It is difficult to make the realistic drawings look right on iPad. Also I would like the option to pay one time for this app, not for each book.

Impossible to achieve drawings like the examples without apple pencil support

Without proper pressure sensibility it is impossible to achieve gesture lines like the examples provided. So probably people will feel frustrated for not achieving good drawings even though they do it as the lesson intended. Beside this deal breaker, app is well done and lessons are well adapted for this format. Advice, get the old books if you can, grab some paper and pencil, start drawing and skip this app.

Could be costly

Instructions are great, but only one lesson per item, just get a sketch pencil and a pen. If you want colors, purchase, more lessons, purchase. The app is not free!

Ne charge pas. the app don't charge

L'application ne charge meme pas je ne peux même pas l'avoir. The app don't charge i can't have it

Lesson Downloads

Lesson downloads - Slow or not, that is the question!
Lessons that were previously downloaded are excellent and easy to follow.

Does not work anymore

Lessons do not download. Do not waste your time and money! Have iPad Pro on latest iOS.

Paid portion does not work

I upgraded to an iPad Pro. All my lessons THAT I PAID FOR are gone. This has been a problem with this app for a year. There is no support for the roar "problem connecting to App Store." It's nice when app developers take your money and run.

Bought extra lessons now won't work

It was a good beginning so I tried in app purchases and now keeps crashing. Tried deleting and reloading same problem.

Lessons won't download

I've been unable to download the lessons for this. I have tried rebooting the iPad, reinstalling the app without success. Considering the amount of good reviews the latest version doesn't work at all.
