Availability and compatibility

Why would this software not be available only on an iPad and not a mac? I have to use this software for uni, and it is extremely easily downloadable on windows, so I will just have to go out of my way to use a pc. This is not the first time I have encountered online educational resources not being available or not working properly on a mac, in most science course activities it is always advised ‘You will need to use a pc for this quiz/activity/online tutorial/exam/for this program.’
