About

LensTrails is a private scouting journal for photographers who collect places, not just pictures. LensTrails includes a 7-day free trial. After the trial, an active subscription is required to continue using the app. Save a promising location from the map, a new photo, or a geolocated camera roll image. LensTrails turns it into a practical scouting record with coordinates, notes, tags, rating, location type, photos, visit timing, weather, light, and return-planning details. Instead of digging through your camera roll or trying to remember where a shot was taken, open LensTrails and browse your saved places as a map, a list, or a photo grid. KNOW WHY A PLACE MATTERED Every saved spot can keep the details that make it useful later: • Photos and location notes • Tags for subjects, conditions, and ideas • Star ratings to prioritize stronger spots • Location types such as landscape, cityscape, seascape, forest, mountain, architecture, nature, wildlife, industrial, and more • Visit month and preferred time of day • Address, distance, coordinates, sharing, and navigation PLAN WHEN TO RETURN LensTrails helps turn saved places into shoot plans. For short-term planning, the app can suggest a next visit window using the location type, tags, preferred timing, sun movement, sunrise and sunset quality, cloud cover, current weather, and the 5-day outlook. You get a simple score, a practical time window, a suggested facing direction, and the reasoning behind the suggestion. For long-term planning, LensTrails can estimate the best typical month and time of day to come back, using multiple planning signals together with the character of the location. SEE WEATHER AND LIGHT IN CONTEXT Each location can show current conditions, cloud cover, wind, rain risk, humidity, visibility, sunrise, sunset, and a 5-day forecast. A 24-hour cloud cover graph helps you decide whether a place is worth visiting soon or better saved for another day. UNDERSTAND THE SUN PATH Use the map overlay and camera preview to understand how light moves around a saved place. Preview daylight, golden hour, blue hour, night, sunrise, sunset, and the current sun direction before you commit to a return shoot. BUILT FOR FIELD USE LensTrails is designed to stay quiet and practical while scouting. Core features work without an account, your archive is kept on your device for everyday use, and the main actions are easy to reach when you are outside. LensTrails is useful for landscape, cityscape, seascape, travel, drone, street, and outdoor photographers who want a better way to remember promising places and return when the conditions are more likely to work.
