Top reviews

Lowercase only

Not sure if I just don’t know got to change it or if this app only has the lowercase letters. Wish it had both.
Other than that amazing

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback! I'll share this with our team. ~Merry :-)

Amazing App

Has helped a lot in our homeschooling.

Response from developer

Thanks for your review! ~Merry :-)

It’s ok but doesn’t have Q

The app is nice I use it while teaching my 3 year old his letter sounds, the only bad thing is the Q is Qu not just Q, there’s no option to change it. Other than that we live it.

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback! In English words, q and u are always a team, so we don’t have a tile with just q on it. As your student grows, you may come across rare exceptions (like the country name for Qatar, or a few foreign-influenced words, but these are advanced examples. We want little ones to be very familiar with seeing q and u together, and to understand that these two letters work together when making the /kw/ sound. ~Merry :-)

Great so

Love it!

Terrible

Is this a joke? There is only one page showing letters in this app and nothing more. Respect the user a little bit.

Response from developer

I'm sorry you were disappointed! This free app is for beginning learners working on just the first sounds of the alphabet, and is meant to be used alongside our Pre-Reading curriculum.

Awesome/Easy App

I’m currently teaching my son letter sounds and realized I don’t know all the letter sounds! Easy to use and works great. Thank you!

Response from developer

You're welcome! When you and your student are ready to start learning multiple sounds, check out our other free app, https://www.allaboutlearningpress.com/phonogram-sounds-app/. Have fun teaching your little one!

Temu

Horrible app

It needs more

My little cousin is almost 13 and she can’t read very well at all.
I’d give this five stars if it had what ch and ck and sh make

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback! This one is mainly for beginning learners. We have another app that has those sounds and more--check out our free Phonogram Sounds app. https://www.allaboutlearningpress.com/phonogram-sounds-app/. That might be more helpful for your cousin. ~Merry :-)

my 5yo is ALL About this app !!

I wish they had more free options :)

Response from developer

So glad your 5-yo loves this app! Here's another free one when your child is ready to learn multiple sounds: https://www.allaboutlearningpress.com/phonogram-sounds-app/. Enjoy! ~Merry :-)

Makes wrong phoneme sounds

Coming from a dyslexia specialist, not all sounds on this app are being pronounced correctly. For example, this app is pronouncing the vowel sound /uh/ on the end of the /b/ sound making it sound like /b-uh/. This is very wrong. Several are like this.

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback! It doesn't sound like /b-uh/ on my speakers--it sounds like just the /b/ sound. However, I know that some sounds are really difficult to capture on audio without a little bit of a vowel sound, and that may be what you are hearing. Some sounds were recorded up to 100 times, with the professional voice talent very patiently trying different tones and lengths of each sound. When the sounds were chopped off too soon, they were unintelligible. This app is a companion to our Pre-Reading program. We recommend teaching sounds in person whenever possible, and using the app as a review tool as needed. Thanks for trying the app! ~Merry :-)

Really helpful!

Thumbs up!

Just what I needed

English is my second language and this helps me a lot with sounds when teaching my daughter

Response from developer

That's great! So glad it helps you! ~Merry :-)

Thank you!

Thank you!!!!!! I’ve been looking for something exactly like this for a long time. God bless you for making it and providing it for free. This app has given me so much hope to be able to teach my students with learning disabilities learn to read by touching the sounds they see in the word and blending them together. I teach high school English Language Learners and a few of them are really struggling. This gives them independence to be able to practice on their own! I would love it if there was a version that had blends, digraphs, and vowel teams too!

Response from developer

You're welcome, Nicole, and good news--there is! Check out our free phonogram sounds app which includes the multiple sounds for all the basic phonograms (including digraphs and vowel teams). Blends are simply two or three consonants next to each other that all retain their normal, individual sounds (like the s-t in fast or the p-l in plan), so they can still sound those out! Here's a link to the Phonogram Sounds app: https://www.allaboutlearningpress.com/phonogram-sounds-app/. Enjoy! ~Merry :-)

Perfect for teaching beginning sounds

Great app!

Response from developer

So glad you enjoy it!

very helpful

great tool

A-z letter sounds app

Wonderful aid. To ensure the “teacher” is modeling the correct sound. Easy to use, with my phone, I can access it on the go. Truly a homeschooler’s friend!

Response from developer

Thanks! Have fun teaching your little one! ~Merry :-)

Great

Helps you with the basic sounds of each letter

Wrong sounds for y, qu, w

The letters y, w, and qu do not use “uh” after them. We don’t say wUHe for we or wUHent for went. We don’t say UH in quack, or in yes. These errors should be an easy fix. Educators should “first do no harm”.

very helpful

We use this app with the pre reading curriculum. It is very helpful for our son to hear the proper pronunciation of each letter sound.

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback! I'm glad it's helping your son. ~Merry :-)

Works great now!

When I first got the app it didn’t work, but it appears that they have updated their app and now it works great! I have been using it with my 3 preschoolers. Thanks!

Response from developer
