About
Take command of a ship on the Spanish Main, in the age of sail. Buy cheap, sell dear, fight for your life, and carve out a fortune on a vast sea with its own weather, tides of war and rival captains.
SAIL A LIVING SEA
Steer by wheel and sail lever, tap the sea to set a waypoint, or hand the helm to the autopilot. The wind decides how well you sail, the day turns to dusk and to starlit night, and fronts of rain, fog, thunderstorms and hurricane season roll across the whole map.
TRADE FOR PROFIT
Learn what every port pays. Dock at busy harbour towns, buy and sell goods from sugar and rum to spice and silver, and let the trade assistant on your captain's chart point out the richest runs between ports you know. Plan a route, check the days, stores and water it needs, and set course.
FIGHT BROADSIDE TO BROADSIDE
Line up your guns, load round, chain or grape shot, and trade fire with pirates, navies and rivals. Cripple a ship, then board her: win the cutlass duel, plunder her hold, and take her as a prize for your own fleet.
BUILD A FLEET
Add ships to your fleet, hire captains for escort, and name your own flagship. Fit her out at the Shipwright with hull colours, stripes, sails, figureheads, stern carving, lanterns and flags.
LIVELY PORTS
Walk the streets of harbour towns of the English, Spanish, French and Dutch, and of pirate havens. Meet the people, read the notice board, take commissions, hear rumours and find the tavern.
MEET RIVAL CAPTAINS
Hail ships at sea. A rival may trade you news, wager on a race to the next port, or wish you fair winds. Your name and your reputation follow you between flags.
SET ORDERS, COME BACK RICH
Give your captain standing orders and a route. When you return after some time away, a log shows what the voyage earned and what it cost.
ALSO
- Quests and commissions, treasure maps, landing parties on unclaimed islands
- Harbours and a home port of your own, and the long climb to Admiral of the Main
- Single-player. Portrait and landscape play, made for touch.
