What's New in Lexirise

0.15.19

October 7, 2026

- New Continue widget: your latest chapters and episodes on the home screen, one tap to pick up where you left off. - iPad: word lookups open as a floating card next to the word, the video transcript docks to the side in landscape, and Profile, Study and lists use the full screen. - Videos and podcasts: Select text in the transcript to translate, clip or save a whole phrase. New Hide known lines and Gaps between lines settings. - Local films: mined sentences keep the film's own audio and video clip. - Study: example sentences play on their own at your session speed, and the study card can cover this week or this month. - Streak freezes: earn them to cover the odd missed day. - Comics: choose what tapping a bubble does, and copy a sentence from the bubble card or the word sheet. - New study languages: Latin and Ancient Greek, with classic texts to read. - Live transcript: edit or delete a finished line. - Settings: Report a problem sends a note with app diagnostics. - Fixes: Home no longer switches to offline mode on a slow network, the first launch no longer stays blank on a bad connection, podcasts resume after a dropped stream, downloaded series show all their episodes, and the YouTube picture stays visible in focus mode on an upright iPad.

The most underrated app

This app has more features than you would expect but its real secret sauce is that it is being actively developed on by folks on the Discord. Because of the extremely streamlined process of triaging bugs and adding features (go say hi to Lexi in the discord), the requests people ask for get implemented quickly. My main reason for signing up is simply because I want to read comics and get off of apps like DuChinese. It has made it possible for me to finally (slowly) read a comic that my wife grew up with and for that I am forever greatful

Doesn’t work very well, insists on translations

The app insists on translating text when you tap on anything. If you want this to say, add pinyin to comics, it will give you a full translation every time you click on a speech bubble. It doesn’t accurately identify comics sites and will fail to work on them, making it no better than safari. Do not recommend. Not worth $15 a month

Safari Mac

I was looking for something while watching YouTube to help learn words on Mac, and this works so well! The UI is clean, pauses when hover over words, and says them out loud! My only request would be if you can add audio samples in a male voice too that would be amazing (for Korean)!

A Mecca for Language Autodidacts!

A Marvel of Modern Philology! Having explored many a Tool for the acquiſition of Knowledge, Lexiriſe stands alone as the Premier Repository for the Serious Scholar. Its Immersion capabilities are as Vaſt as the Orient, and the SRS Syſtem is more Precise than a Swiſs Chronometer.
