Handy app but could be improved

I have been using LibraryWorld in my two libraries for more than 10 years and find it serves my needs well. But the app surprises me on occasion when I search by title and it says no records found. When I use the author’s name the record comes up! I entered the title numerous times so not sure what is going on! It seems random.

Confusing display

This app has problems in that the author search only pulls up authors from the main entry field. So if you only remember an illustrator's name or a joint author, it won't pull it up. Use the keyword search always.
The display for the individual records shows a great deal of extraneous information that patrons will find confusing. Currently the control numbers, fixed length fields, cataloging source codes show up in the individual records. The OPAC configuration settings have no effect on the app display. I've been told that this isn't a bug, but the order of display is.
Encourage your patrons to use LibraryWorld's OPAC through their browser.

:-(

I keep having to reopen the app because it is mysteriously closing.

It's OK

It's ok, but there is some discontinuity between the iOS interface and the OPAC interface. This could be confusing to patrons. Also, when you type in a search for a keyword, the user must press "Return" on the keypad to submit the search. This will be especially confusing for school libraries where students search on iOS devices. Once the results are returned, the branch and location does not show. LibraryWorld admins that use the "Branch" and "Location" tags to denote sections within their library will find that frustrating.

Adding items to the clipboard is easy. Once you get items on the clipboard, you can't do anything but look at the list. It would be nice to have an option to export the list to an Airport enabled printer.

I think it's a great first draft, but I would like to see some improvements. Once improvements are made, I would like to see the iOS interface influence the OPAC interface.

One more thing… wouldn't it be cool if the iPhone/iPad/iPod camera could take a pic of the barcode and LibraryWorld would display the items information? Other apps can do this.
