Great story

I rate this game five stars!because it is so much like dungeons and dragons

Great game

Love the story, there are so many possibilities and variations Iโ€™ve probably spent hours and hours with this game, redoing various things for different endings or paths to follow. Very in depth too. Love it!

Great game

I love this game. There are so many options that you can choose early in the game that affect your choices later on that it gives the game great replay value. There are a few suggestions Iโ€™d make (BEWARE OF SPOILERS BELOW).

1. Iโ€™d add more achievements, especially for more niche accomplishments (end game with maximum possible fame, end game with maximum possible peace/army power, win while only having friends/followers who are gnomes, etcโ€ฆ)

2. If the player fails at something because a given stat is too low (ie the collective rating of the party when they face the dragon), telling them what the required value is diminishes the replay value (it especially de-incentivizes options that give them a crystal ball).

3. When healing the headmaster of the academy, the option to use the playerโ€™s troll blood is visible regardless of the race of the player.

4. I donโ€™t k ow if this was intentional, but the Diplomacy is super easy to max out as it gets increased even for choices that are only tangentially related to diplomacy.

Awesome!

Great game, good replay-ability. I donโ€™t think it needs music at all, I would probably just mute it or ignore it. I mean you can literally just play your own, but no text based game Ive ever played has had music anyway. Just good story, good fantasy genre, and good fun

Game

No money

Worth the money

The simple writing style makes it easy to understand and the stats are relatively easy to grasp. Also incorporates some nice curve balls where you sometimes just have to use logic instead of pure stat based decisions. Overall, the high replay ability and simple style of the story boded really well with me. If youโ€™re someone looking for extravagant writing and โ€œbig wordsโ€ I would not recommend this. However, if youโ€™re looking for simplicity and a nice story with high replay ability, then this is one of the best.

Not Worth the Money

Itโ€™s a cool game with interesting choices, though itโ€™s not easy to maneuver. I wish there was a rewind button, because there were several times I had misclicked. The game doesnโ€™t last very long, and visually itโ€™s not very pleasing. I wish I had read more into the game before buying it. It also would help if there was music. It was soundless gameplay, and the end of it was the furthest from fun.

Buy this if you donโ€™t care about wasting your money for maybe half an hour of gameplay.

Donโ€™t buy this if you realize the same (or a better) effect could be achieved from finding a dungeons and dragons campaign to join.

Great game

Fun to play through a bunch of times to get the different achievements

Wonderful!

Lots of fun. Couldnโ€™t stop reading!

Pretty much the best Choice of Games book ever

It isn't particularly long but it has so much depth. I've played through this at least 30 times and still enjoy it.

AWESOME

This is one game I will never regret buying. I loved playing and discovering all the different out comes for hours and hours. The only thing it needs is sequels. MORE Fantasy games this epic and I will not hesitate to download.

Best choice game

This really is an excellent game where your decisions really do have consequences later in the game. By far the best choice game I have played. Also, look out for The Lost Heir series by the same author.

Better than I expected

I wasn't sure if I would like this game, but I wanted to check out the genre. I was not disappointed, and I was surprised at how much I liked it.
I played through once and didn't complete all my goals; I don't want to spoil anything, but the achievements at the end give he idea that it's possible to have many different endings. I am definitely going to play through again and try to be evil, to see what happens.

Boring

The writing style is really bland and disappointing.

Necro thanks

Necromancy as a playable game mechanic doesn't ever get a hint of spotlight, though thanks for at least including the option in part in this choice based game.

Must get!

This is a fantastic one, I've probably played it about 25 times and I'm still not bored of it! Would absolutely love a second, it's been long enough now 'cough' hint hint!

Incredible, a hidden gem

Life of a Wizard was a chance buy for me. Little did I know it was a very immersive CYOA with countless decisions. I was fortunate enough to almost always have at least one option for every check on my first run (thanks summoning) but I do wish there were a rewind option. I know why there isn't but I feel like it would be beneficial in case of a mis-click or if the results weren't what you wanted. Regardless of this I wholeheartedly recommend this game.

Couldn't put it down!

I really enjoyed this interactive fiction game! Being able to create my characters history so thoroughly was quite fun, and seeing that translated into stats and abilities was great.

I was amazed at how many variable choices there were during many scenarios and it felt like there were always several interesting ways to handle each if the stats were good enough.

There were one or two instances of weirdness where I failed to complete a quest properly, but was still able to receive the reward as if I had, and a few instances where I didn't realize I was doing an "evil" thing that hurt my reputation and were kind of frustrating.

Overall this game is great and worth your time!

The best choice of games

Lucid's choice games are some of the best out there and this one is no exception. There are many routes to travel down without the game seeming repetitive. Well worth the price.

10/10 will play again

The variety of storylines and character customization is unreal!!! I love this game and is unique yet following the classic Hero's Journey storyline.
Would recommend to anyone willing to give it a try.
