The iPad app is functional enough when I’m not at my computer but the desktop apps are excellent. Very deep and customizable.

After much research into studio management software I settled on Lightblue. With a bit of work, I was able to move most of my business data from a very old system into LB. this iPad app lets me access and modify my client data on the road. love it! Just wish it had a checkbook included.

I honestly thought light blue would just help me get a bit more organised. I’d read reviews saying it was amazing and saved hours and thought yeah, whatever.
I was wrong. It has literally revolutionised the way I run my business. Online forms and emailing direct from a shoot record has saved me hours and hours of work.
I now have a form that I use at wedding fairs that couples fill in at the stand. It creates an Enquiry shoot with all their contact details included and all the info I need about their wedding. I can then email them from my phone or PC with just a few clicks using an built in template.
For my commercial clients I have a job booking form that they used to give me all the details of a shoot including location timings requests and other notes.
This is just the tip of the iceberg and I’m discovering new ways to be more organised and save time every day.
I have the online account which backs up my database and all attachments and syncs them over five devices, so I can see up to date info on my PC, laptop, phone and iPad.
The built in calendar is superb too. Make a shoot record and it’s automatically in your calendar.
Work flows can be added to your shoot automatically and you can have different workflows for different types of shoot.
Then, when you’ve finished your shoot you can invoice the client right from the shoot record and if you’ve already sent them a quote your invoice is just a few clicks and emailed out right from light blue.

It would be hard to run my business without light blue
I photograph 40-50 weddings a year, this App is a life saver, from the online forms to contracts, through to sending quotes and invoicing, this app is brilliant, It syncs with google calendar so I can see at a glance if i am free to take in a booking ! Worth every penny and this! iPhone app is great for when I’m on the Go !
