Light Meter Wheel User Reviews

Good but…

Help is confusing and also Volume + and volume - have functions switched. Report a problem from app does not work either.

Simple, fast

Simple, fast and just works. I have looked for an app that shows me all possible exposures at the same time and is really simple. Which this one does and is.

Camera issue

This app hasn’t been updated in three years. The camera lens won’t view forward. Only views in selfie direction mode. Useless.

Essential for blackmagic!!

Have used Both apps from developer with much success. The spot metering is extraordinarily powerful when shooting video as it protects the highlights. It is very accurate and convenient. Criminally cheap!

Great app

I find this app to be very intuitive, I also find it to be very close in accuracy to my Sekonic L398! I have used it with my Mamiya C330 and RB67 the result have been spot on!

Great light meter

This app works perfectly for me and is accurate when compared with my DSLR. I use it for measuring reflected light and it works great.
Easy to use with good hold function. The image preview and hold is brilliant because it gives you an idea of what your exposure will look like. Highly recommend app that I have been using for more than a year.

Best lightmeter for analog fans

Although not perfect, it’s still the best app for my needs. I wish it would load the previous settings at restart and not the defaults.

Great look, great feel, accurate!!!

Tested this during some late exposures. It works and works well! My only issue is one of my ND filters is 10 stops and this only compensates up to 5 stops up or down, so still have some guess work on my part. But still, it works!

Mmmm

Not sure about this app, I like the idea and layout but I just can’t increase the volume so I removed it.

Perfection for my 4x5 film!

I was so grateful to find this particular light meter for natural light photography. My “professional fancy” lightmeter seems not to work as well (consistently) as this iOS app does on my iPhone SE. It is not meant to register settings for flash, but works well with spots and other continuous lighting. I take samples all around in contrasty situations and make an educated guess for averaging the exposure. I wish it worked on my iPad as well, but, C'est la vie!

Fantastic Meter

If you want an accurate meter with you at all times but don't want to carry one with you or if you forgot yours at home then this is the app you want. Readings are quite accurate, they have never let me down. Only thing G I wish it had was a Spot reading option. It's well worth what I paid.

Simple & Superb

I have to say i was a bit dubious paying £1.99 for this app as you never know quite how they are going to work. Ive bought apps before with annoying adverts this has none
This app is soo simple to use and i love the interface. Its worth every penny

WOW, this is the best meter on the entire iOS store

So I tried out a bunch of free lightmeters and they had terrible interfaces, were plagued with ads and were slow to boot.

Then this one came along.

It loads super fast, goes from opening to working with a proper reading in 3 seconds flat. And this is on my super old iphone 5s. Goes from lock screen to reading in about half a second.

Its so damn accurate. Tested it against my digital camera, nailed the exposure every time.

It operates in lower light than the newest DSLRs. The d750 goes down to -2.75EV, this one goes to -4.0EV (which is basically blackness).

The UI IS AMAZING. The person who made this is clearly a photographer because it works so well. Smooth and responsive. Controls are simple, no extra fluff and the design is nice an modern.

The only issues I have with it is that it is apperature priority only. You set the apperature and then the shutter speed adjusts. And its a little hard on my small screen to adjust the exposure compensation. But those are super minor and everything else is perfect.

It's a shame this gem is buried in the app store. So worth the 2 bucks.

Some parts don't work

It does its job but the option to put your own image into the centre doesn't work.

Best light meter

I am using Hasselblad and Mamiya cameras and find the Light Meter Wheel app to be the best in terms of readability for EV and other exposure settings.

Absolutely Perfect

Could not be happier. Beautifilly designed and implemented with real-time exposure updates. As accurate but more convenient than my pro meter.

Great

The best exposure app I have used and the best looking, would love to have a version with zones instead of exposure compensation

Perfect for digital, film, and pinhole!

Great app, does all as advertised. I really like the simplicity and a lack of arbitrary limits to shutter speeds or apertures. No more getting a reading and then calculating beyond meter limits. Great for long exposures, and great for pinhole photography too as tiny apertures are supported too (all the way down to f/1024). Thanks for a great simple powerful app!

Excellent - look no further

Simply the best exposure meter app there is. Simple, accurate and very easy to use.

Just the very thing I needed!

As a user of old cameras, toy cameras and pinholes, having to carry a light meter around was a bit of a chore, especially when you had to do maths in your head because the meter did not cover your pinholes f-number.
But now I don't have to!
Simple interface, covers everything. Perfect.
