Requires dongle

This app does not work without an external piece of hardware. I missed it at the bottom of the description, wished it was the first line.

The online instructions in the app made me rank it a 4 even though I couldn't use it, it was somewhat easy to find out why.

I was looking for an app to measure my florescent tubes and LED and tungsten bulbs so I know what to buy for replacements. I have cool and warm in my fixtures to help balance the room so I want to measure them once I get a good looking balance.

Exceptionally useful product for light testing

This is a very powerful tool for measuring lighting data and analyzing the results. In addition to the raw data like Lux, CCT and CRI, the ability to plot the results provides great insight into the data. Spectrum plots can show peak wavelength and the affect of filters applied to the light source in a comparison plot. The Lighting Navigator app provides basic functions and is easy to use and the Spectrum Genius Essence app adds even more functionality with additional data readings and more advanced plotting with R graphs, CIE plots and more. The measured data can be stored in the app database allowing a you to compare any previous lighting measurement to a current or other previous measurement, which is immensely useful when evaluating lighting products. As a smart device it is very easy to then share the data vs traditional lighting measurement tools. I highly recommend this product if you are serious about lighting.

I had previously given this product 1 star, as the app the device relies on stopped working with new versions of iOS and it took over 2 months for the app to be fixed.
