Top reviews

Great for storm

Excellent labs and sandbox, has literally everything

Response from developer

Thanks for the review!

Very useful!!!

I’m a co-op student and I play around with this app a lot! It’s definitely going to help a lot in the future!!

Response from developer

Thanks for the review! I'm glad you find it helpful!

Good app

Learning a lot from this app. Only problem I’ve come across is how to tie the H1/H2 bushings to the tank ground and neutral

WYE Delta is wrong

Your eye delta is wrong. Other than that good app.

Needs a bug fix

Great app just noticed that on some of the banks you can’t bus the secondary x2 to x2 bushing for delta secondary’s. It use to work but if the developers can fix that then it would get that 5th star in my book

Response from developer

Why would you want to bus Delta secondaries across X2's? Delta secondary connections can only have one neutral reference. Unless I am misunderstanding you, which may be the case. Please reach out to me at info@digitalapprentice.net!

Very helpful

The app has some flaws but nothing you can’t work around. Helped me a lot on learning transformer configurations.

Response from developer

Please reach out to me at info@digitalapprentice.net with any issues so I can get them corrected. Thanks!

Good app, but not perfect

I really like this app, I recommend it to my apprentices to learn the concept of banking transformers. What I do no like is that I can’t select to build banks with subtractive transformers. Not every system is less than 8kv. Also, when building a bank, if the wiring on the X bushings is not to the exact phase it’s drawn on the diagrams, it won’t accept the answer.

Response from developer

Please reach out to me with screenshots of the secondary issues, this should not be the case. info@digitalapprentice.net Also, a huge update is coming that will allow the users to change system voltage and therefore allow them to work with subtractive transformers. Thanks!

Great training reference!

This is a great app, let me just start with that.
It would be great if you could build your own banks and check voltage and what not. The set diagrams are awesome but being able to play around with different connections would make it better. Also tap changer settings and info would also be a great addition.

Basically just use it as a normal diagram

If you thought you’d be able to run a lot of different scenarios with this don’t bother. The app won’t let you do a ton of stuff and if you’re trying to use it to show an apprentice or something their mistake and recreate it digitally it almost certainly won’t accurately recreate that. Basically you build it correct or it doesn’t much do anything, not much point of this unless you really just want an interactive diagram because you can’t follow one that doesn’t have movable parts—which makes zero sense to me.

Response from developer

This app is for learning transformer connections, not wiring up transformers in weird ways to see what happens. No where in the description of the app does it say you can "run a lot of different scenarios." It will tell you basic things wrong with your wiring such as grounds missing, but yeah it won't tell you your phase angle displacement because it is not designed to.

Awesome app

Awesome app helped me get my secondary connections down but it would be even better you guys added a create your own bank option just so guys can get a better grasp. Also be helpful if you could add a wye bank that stays in series. Hope to see more options in the future.

Response from developer

I'm not sure what you mean by Wye banks staying in series? For it to be a wye bank you have to parallel the secondary coils. Reach out to me at info@digitalapprentice.net!

Good app kinda confused

How do you connect the h2 to the neutral everytime I tie them in I can get them to turn white but they come in upside down. How do I make them look like the picture ? I’m sure there is a way to do it but I’ve been messing with this app a few days and have yet to figure it out

Response from developer

Can you please send a screenshot of your issue to info@digitalapprentice.net? I will be able to help you better there. Thanks!

Almost perfect

I’m using this app to practice my connections for my transformer class and it’s really really great well worth the 10$ but when I wire up a bank correctly it will tell me it’s wrong it only does this with the delta delta or the wye wye I will match them up perfectly with the image but still say it’s wrong I’ve even asked my teacher if they are wired correctly and he said yes. Once that gets fixed this app will be 5/5

Thanks for the review! Can you please send screenshots of this issue to info@digitalapprentice.net so I can address this? Thanks!

Okay app

What I did not like is you can’t get a zero read on like phases it gives a 240 read when it is really a zero read this was wye delta bank straight 240

Timmy

Some of the answers in the advance quiz need to be fixed for the transformer selection question parts of the test. Selecting the correct transformer subtracts two points while selecting the improper voltage per nameplate is shown as correct. Please fix this as it could be confusing to anyone trying to learn.

Response from developer

I will take a look at this ASAP, thanks for bringing this to my attention! *Edit: I just ran through this quiz multiple times and found no issues with scoring. Please make sure you are choosing a transformer that is rated for phase to phase voltage when being tasked with a Delta Bank. If you continue to have issues, please send me an email at info@digitalapprentice.net so we can dive deeper and get these issues fixed! Thanks!

Fuse blows when nothings wrong

When making a delta secondary hookup, when you attach the case grounds, the fuse blows and says it’s wrong. Not sure if it’s a bug or I’m im doing something wrong

Great for linemen

Great app. Highly recommend for any apprentices or journeymen looking to brush up on their banking skills. Would love to see paralleling 3 phase banks in the future. I’ve had the app for a while and have noticed new features come up, like single phase paralleling and troubleshooting.

Response from developer

Thanks for the review! 3 phase Paralleling is a great idea, I will add it to the list!

Wrong wiring in diagram

The diagram for a 277/480 Wye/Wye bank is wrong. Also the H.V. on the transformer name plate on dual bushing transformer is wrong.

Shows wrong connection with right hook up

I’ll make a connection and check work, shows right voltage but wrong connection. Check the system’s connection and it’s exactly the same. Refresh connection and it will show it as correct. Downloaded this for my apprentices but I can’t use this app and worry about confusion or frustration. Good theory, too many bugs…

Response from developer

I have not had any more reports of this bug. Please send me a message at info@digitalapprentice.net with more info on this so I can get it corrected if there is an issue. I am always working on this app and always welcome feedback and corrections. Thanks!

Paralleling

Great app for guys to start understanding banks! Only issue is when paralleling cans. Rather than running the x3 and x1 to the same phase it wants you to run to opposite phases. That isn’t parallel, that’s a 240 secondary flash.

Voltmeter doesn’t work and needs more labs!

Cool app, but the voltmeter doesn’t work! It will not let you drop the leads to the voltmeter on the bottom two phases… this prevents you from doing the tests because in the test it tells you to check secondary voltage with the meter…

Also needs more labs! It’d be great if there were just more labs with different scenarios, or a feature like “customer needs 480 3 phase power for x load, pick the right transformer and hook up” type situations.

Response from developer

Sorry that I just now saw your review. Thanks for the feedback. Not being able to check voltage on the horizontal secondaries was by design. The screen is not big enough to allow this, you must check voltage on the down leads from the transformers. Also, new labs are now available and I am constantly working on new updates, but am still a Journeyman Lineman full-time for a power company. Let me know if you have any more questions! If you find this reply useful, please consider updating your review. info@digitalapprentice.net
