Free version is very limited
In the free version, you cannot move past nationalities or the alphabet without paying for premium ($22 AUD per month), so this app limits the Japanese you can learn greatly. I’m sure it’s the exact same for other languages as well. Highly disappointing.
Pretty good but I think but under enthusiastic
It’s good and helps me learn but it’s not enthusiastic like Duolingo is. Not animated enough. Please respond!! Wait I just went on it and it lets you do nationalities but then you have to pay. That’s not what it says in the adds so I’m really disappointed. I thought it was better than Duolingo but now i think it’s the same. I am NOT gonna pay for another one.

I used to do Duolingo but I’ve swapped to this app and I’ll never regret it. I’ve done my first lesson and i already know Japan, America , hello, and goodbye . I really recommend it.

This is great! But…
I love this app, I am learning German!But sometimes they push you very far and just put you up there, and sometime it can be hard.
Wish it didn’t force u to pay to understand your mistakes instead make a ad
I rather watch a add to continue than pay cause I do wanna learn but I don’t have money nor does my family usually have spare money to spend on here, it is really fun to learn my sister suggested it!

This app is 100x better then duolingo. It teaches me actual learning

This app makes you pay up then immediately throws you into the worst UX for a Learning app you could possibly dream up. No clear instructions , exercises are just cards that pop up with no context or implication on what you're even being asked, if anything. I have no clue which item to click on first, what the "lessons" are trying to teach or how I am even supposed to interact with them. Absolutely wild design choices throughout.

I like this app but..
I like this app and it’s amazing but I’m not sure if the Spanish course(the non-European Spanish course) is accurate, because when I asked a Spanish friend of mine “which one is the correct one” because as a Hispanic woman myself I know many things, but what the app displayed didn’t seem correct and my friend said none of the answers were correct, so I would check the accuracy of the courses, cause now I’m worried some of the other courses could be inaccurate, but I love how detailed and extensive the explaining is and how your app makes conjugation, and explaining grammar way more clear than other apps.

Predatory subscription practices
The app is decently laid out and I enjoyed using it, the biggest perk was that you can download lessons so they were useful while I was on deployment. However, when it comes to cancelling your subscription there is no cancel option in the entire app. You have to contact them directly which I think is incredibly predatory due to deleting your account does NOT stop the renewal process, despite the lack of stop renewal option in the app. They claim subscription renewal is not under the refund policy. Just unprofessional business practice in my opinion.

Reviewing after the newest update: things got even better, with an AI explaining what mistakes and wrong answers while also referring your current lessons.
I’ve been learning Japanese for years NOTHING comes anywhere near as detailed (without being overwhelming or clunky) as Lingo deer is.

Instead of memorizing set phrases, you’re taught how to construct full sentences.
I like the tips page that gives you a summary of what you really need to know in order to form a sentence.

I like this app but you have to pay after one lesson :( honestly seems like a paying scam. Not everyone has money. It’s ridiculous :( like it’s not fair, they need to change it. I would give it a zero rating if I could
