About
Every Spanish word, hooked to an image too ridiculous to forget.
A foreign word on its own is just a sound. Lingtastic gives it something to hold on to. Casa sounds like "casserole", so the image is a house that IS a casserole, bubbling, with a spoon in the chimney. Perro sounds like "pear oar", so it's a dog rowing a boat carved from a pear. The sound gets you in; the image is the hook.
It's called the keyword method, and it has been tested on Spanish since 1975. The images are loud, rude and absurd on purpose: your brain throws away the sensible and keeps what surprises it.
• The background colour is the word's gender: coral for feminine, teal for masculine. You learn la casa and el perro without drilling articles.
• No writing inside any image, so the word has to come from you.
• The test never shows the image. You recall the word, not recognise a drawing.
• You decide when each word comes back. No algorithm picks your intervals.
• The images are made and voted on by the people learning, on our community site.
• Your progress stays on your phone. No account needed, no ads.
