Go For It!

Lingvist has been the best app so far in regards to me learning Russian. I can’t thank this community enough. I believe that there is a science into learning or acquiring another language and I believe Lingvist has got it down to a T, please don’t ever stop working on this app. This subscription is worth it if you’re serious about language acquisition.

Russian is no easy language and I like how they have it set up to introduce even novice learners to become familiar with words while also displaying how they’re supposed to be used in context.

There’s a certain amount of hours that’s needed to be put in to acquiring the language and Lingvist helps track it down making it easier to accomplish my goals!!

I’ve had to figure out my own routine and how I could best utilize the Lingvist app to make the most out of it based on the way I learn languages the best.

But I can’t express how much Lingvist has contributed to so much of my Russian language journey ! Maybe in the future, adding a section to where learners can test & gauge their language proficiency would be really cool! Thank you Lingvist team 😭❤️

Has helped build vocabulary

Really enjoying the ease of learning new vocabulary. With daily use I’ve noticed an improvement in my word recall. I enjoy the interface, overall the best flash card app I’ve used for date

Could you add courses on American English taught in Simplified Chinese? Currently, we only offer American English taught in Traditional Chinese and British English taught in Simplified Chinese.

Frustrating

Great concept, but the algorithm is broken. I have been stuck at 6 percent vocabulary for some time. Despite getting 41 percent correct the last time, the program won’t give me any new words. One month later and still not a single new word.

Wonderful tool

I’m really enjoying Lingvist for improving my French vocabulary. One request - in some cards in the General deck you ask questions like “your brother is small” where we need to fill in “your” in French. However you don’t specify which Your you want - formal or informal; therefore students have a 50-50 to answer it correctly. If your cards can specify formal vs informal for sentences like this it would be helpful.

Edited in April - my example didn’t make sense

I’m really enjoying Lingvist for improving my French vocabulary. Pretty good spaced repetition

Good pacing, word selection is a little strange, speech recognition is not great, little voice is not that similar to native speech. Overall has helped me build a pretty decent vocabulary.

Great for learning incorrect translations

I am forever reporting translation errors. So much so, that I might as well be working for them. Don’t waste your time or money with this app. There are so many errors in this app. I’d be outright embarrassed to release this to the public.

I’ll also add that the errors aren’t being fixed.

Mediocre if it was a free app, terrible for what it costs

Forgot to cancel and got charged $85. Nice. The ability to do vocab by speaking (which is why I downloaded this app) just straight up does not work. Horrible layout, have to click the smallest buttons in the world.

Unless you want to pay an unnecessary amount of money, don’t bother downloading this. Find an app that will be KIND and teach you for free.

После оплаты -приложение перестало работать

Прошу разобраться в чем причина или вернуть деньги.
Переустановка,обращение к операторам связи,впн и прочее- не помогает.

Не работает

Просто ужасно! Приложение перестало работать спустя пару месяцев после оформления подписки, по совету самих же разработчиков удалил и заново установил приложение и что Вы думаете, не могу зайти в него, минут 30 пытался. Что происходит, сделайте уже что-то, за что я деньги заплатил!?!?!?

Great for B1-C1 learning

Been super happy with this app. I’m at the stage of my language learning when I can have stilted conversations with locals. This app is perfect for pushing me to the next level. It’s great for practicing different conjugations and usage. It’s not just a vocabulary app. And yet you can use it as a vocabulary builder as well. I also love how you can create your own card sets very easily. So you can truly customize and prioritize your learning.

Hoping the next generation of the app includes more information in the tables and notes menu at the bottom of the screen. Would love to see all the conjugations for verb cards. Also, would love descriptions in the notes for similar words. Like in Spanish, the difference between volver and regresar, or despedir, echar, and soltar. I think the note section could give more context for nuances of similar words.

I subscribed only to try the free trial, but I was charged anyway. I did not use the app at all. I contacted support multiple times to explain the situation and request a refund, but my emails were completely ignored. Since the subscription was made via Apple ID, I cannot resolve the billing issue directly in the app, which makes responsive support even more important.
I hope the developers will finally respond and issue a refund after this public review.
Very disappointing experience and poor customer service. I would not recommend this app due to the lack of transparency and support.

Good for vocabulary

This app works pretty well, but their speech recognition doesn’t work on certain words, so that’s the only problem. I’ll say the exact word, but it only hears the first part, so you have to type it in. Only certain words though, mostly it works. You won’t really learn how to speak German though.
