Needs to be added to Movies Anywhere

Add this application to Movies anywhere application then everyone will be happy

Easy

I read the very negative one-star review and initially decided not to bother with this app, but when I couldn’t redeem John Wick 3 online, I had to try the app. It was fast and easy.

Useless and Transparent

You have to install this app to download your digital movie codes AND you have to share your location. What a stupid obvious ploy at getting my information. No other company makes you do this. It doesn’t add any value to the transaction, just another step between you and your film. Lionsgate also doesn’t allow their films on Movies Anywhere, which I didn’t realize until I redeemed my film on iTunes, but won’t transfer over to my Movies Anywhere library.

This app is a joke, focus on consumer support instead of trying to steal our data.

All of the 1 star reviews are correct, this app stinks

I read the numerous poor reviews but decided to give it a try anyway. Unfortunately, I had the same poor result that most people seem to have. My movie wasn’t able to be viewed on Apple TV app, even though I followed all the instructions closely. Total waste and no customer support.

Incompetent and Greedy

Lionsgate is kidding themselves in believing this app will gain any level of traction. No one wants to be forced into their proprietary digital library instead of having their digital content link to services that function far better and across multiple platforms. Why not just let movie codes redeem on iTunes or MoviesAnywhere like a normal studio? Why not be customer forward instead grasping at delusions? Shut down the app, link your service to a company that knows what they’re doing, and get with the times, Lionsgate.

Worked for me for what I needed

This app worked just fine to scan the movie. And it actually scans it and lets you redeem it on the already established sites,(vudu, Apple TV, etc) hopefully going forward you guys have better luck.

Not worth the time to download

The app is garbage and adds no value to the convenience of digital download. Scan feature is unreliable and even the redeem online feature did not work. Left with having to contact the help email to download the movies. This app is a complete scam to harvest user data and try to force future downloads to this app online. Preventing your current shared video library from also including your Lionsgate movies. Absolutely do not recommend this and I hope they will fix their mistake and return to using the the already established movie libraries that have fine tuned the process.

Pointless

Shouldn’t need to download an app that constantly asks for my location to redeem a movie that I already paid for! And there’s already a streamlined and established process most consumers are familiar with. Already annoying that Lionsgate refuses to be on Movies Anywhere, unlike every other major studio. Stupid waste of time.

Anti-Consumer Garbage that doesn’t even deserve one star

Why does this even exist. Moviesanywhere created a streamlined, pro-consumer and easy process for redeem, buying and watching digital movies. This dumpster fire of an app basically exists to take you information(email and location) and scan codes. That is all it does, but lions gate has made it a requirement for redeeming their digital codes. Then, once you scan you will learn that lionsgate doesn’t allow you to redeem your movie to movies anywhere, instead making you lock it to one service. It would be one thing if they didn’t let you use moviesanywhere, but that compounded with the fact that the app is required instead of just going on whatever services website and clicking redeem makes me really annoyed and I’m going to be very hesitant to buy lionsgate movies now because this is bs!

Why?

This is why people pirate movies & shows or illegally stream them. I like paying for my content so that the people who make it earn a profit & make more of the content I like. But stuff like this just to steal people’s data will give them more incentive to just go stream it illegally & say screw these studios. No ones probably gonna read this & no studio head will make a change because of these words but I gave it thee ol’ college try. Best of luck with your stealing.

Sad John Wick Fan

I was looking forward to adding John Wick 3 to my iTunes collection next to 1 and 2. However, after seeing the unanimously poor reviews for this app, the only reason I downloaded it was to give it my own 1-star review. I won’t be utilizing it, sadly, and will be left without the complete digital movie collection. I can only hope Lionsgate wises up and allows for the direct download of the movies I’ve purchased when they inevitably release the 4-movie collection in the future.

Terrible experience

The John Wick Blu-ray said it came with a digital copy. It should have said, “you can get a digital copy if you download an app that you don’t want that will provide lionsgate with loads of unnecessary highly personal data like your location and then crash before it is finished.”

Whoever conceived of this digital redemption process at lionsgate clearly knows nothing about their target audience.

Keanu reeves is way too cool to have his reputation associated with a scheme like this.

Lionsgate Needs to Change

With the introduction of Movies Anywhere, adding my physical copies of my movies to a digital library has become so easy. Unfortunately, Lionsgate has refused to use the service, forcing me to download this stupid app to get a single version of the digital release. The great thing about Movies Anywhere is the ability to share a library across multiple services, so I don’t need to think about where I bought a movie to find it. Lionsgate needs to adopt this service, as it would be better for the customers, and make me less hesitant to purchase any of their movies.

Unnecessary

Now they want us to take photos of QR code’s for purchased movies on their own bad app that doesn’t even have an iPad version in 2020.

Lionsgate just continues to disappoint on all fronts. Their movies are mediocre at best and they do not want to be consumer friendly towards their own long terms customers.

It’s 2020 and they gave me an iPhone app for my iPad to just add an unnecessary step to claiming my movie so they could get info.

Did I mention you can’t opt out of receiving emails when you redeem movie?

Going forward I still reconsider buying any Lionsgate films. These moves will directly result in me buying fewer or none from this studio.

Incredibly bad. Why isn’t the Federal Government fining this company.

It doesn’t work. After years of failing codes and apps it’s obvious the companies owning these films simply want to advertise that they are selling you a digital copy, without doing it.

With Apple I have had success first time every time over many years, never a problem. Every other system or company never works. If I valued my time at minimum wage I would have earned many times the value of the product.

This is fraud clear and simple. If Hollywood was treated like every other company in America it would be fined out of existence by now.

Update: two weeks since sending help request. Did NOT even get the customary robot response.

Completely useless app just to datamine

Only thing this app does is grab your info sees what you have and gives you recommendations based on your history. It’s just a data mining app in order to further sell you stuff and movies. Once you download it and sign in they have your data trail and then it kicks over to iTunes to redeem your movie. The best example of this is think of this app as the third middle person in the quest to get yourself a good sack of weed. Think of it like going to your cousin who has to go through his girlfriends brother to get to the seller for your stash. This app is the equivalent of being the girlfriends brother. Get your crap together and let us redeem our purchases directly with iTunes!

Anti-Consumer Dumpster Fire

The existence of this app is a blatant, thoughtless, and malicious attempt to mine consumer data. It creates an unneeded barrier between audiences and movies, forcing you to download a third party app, agree to a novella of fine print, and surrender your email before getting access to the movie that you purchased.

If that wasn’t enough, the functionality of app itself is garbage; taking multiple attempts to read the QR and hologram codes.

And after all that, it just kicks you back to iTunes to get the movie. Like... Lionsgate. Just let people scan their codes in iTunes! Live with the fact that you’re not going to snarf up every user’s email. They will actually appreciate you more for not having to sift through your deluge of spam.

And for the love of everything holy... join movies anywhere! People like your movies and want to be able to watch them. I mean, you make movies where Keanu Reeves fights assassins with a horse! That’s amazing! But making people jump through hoops to see that amazingness is just going to create bad vibes for everyone involved.

With apps like this, you’re hindering yourself from reaching the audience that supports you the most.

The whole Lionsgate system is hostile

Between a terrible app, backup codes that don’t work on their own website, and requiring that you “opt in” to their marketing emails, Lionsgate has shown they have no respect for their consumers. This is putting aside their refusal to participate in the Movies Anywhere service. I will avoid purchasing their movie releases in the future.

There is no reason for this app to exist

This is the only movie I’ve redeemed that required an app to do so. The redeem process worked... eventually. It was poorly conceived and designed.

It gets 2 stars instead of 1 only because it *did* eventually let me redeem John Wick 3 to my Google library without making me create a lionsgate account first. But I did have to provide my email.

This app is nonsense.

Awful app that is counter to progress

Shame on this studio for this. There are people out there trying to build legitimacy and good will toward the digital purchase landscape and bad actors like Lionsgate throw that goodwill in the trash. I personally promise I will NEVER buy a Lionsgate movie again or support their products in theaters until the make a complete 180 from this low point.
