Students of Davos Oberstufe have created this app as part of their Climate Action Lab's plastic waste project; its aim is to collect data relating to litter in Davos.
Become a citizen scientist from your phone and help students by logging litter that you find.
Start by using your phone's camera to collect photographic evidence of litter in Davos. When you click Use Photo, the image is uploaded, and the GPS location is also captured and stored. Next, you will be invited to select the litter category and to check whether there is a nearby bin in view and accessible, along with your thoughts on where the litter may have originated.
After submitting, you'll be able to view a map of litter detected so far and explore recycling options in Switzerland.
Using this combined information, we can gather data on the common types of litter and hotspots in Davos. The photo and GPS location will allow us to ascertain if there is any duplication of litter logged.

What's New in Litter Detector

In this version, we've improved the order and flow of the logging process for a smoother, improved experience. The image data is collected first, followed by the capture of the GPS data as the next screen is loading. We have also built bug capturing into the flow to help identify any issues that may occur.
