About

Little Notes is a free offline encryption utility for iPhone and iPad. Text, files, identity keys and saved history are processed on your device. No server account, ads, in-app purchases or subscriptions. EXCHANGE CONTACT CARDS A contact card contains public key material and a nickname. Exchange cards by QR code or file and compare the entire verification code with your friend. Choose the friend, encrypt text or a file, and use an app of your choice to transfer the ciphertext. Your friend imports it to decrypt locally. Keep private identity keys and backups to yourself. ENCRYPTED GROUPS Create a group and share individual encrypted invitations with verified friends. Members import their invitations to exchange group ciphertext and optionally keep local history. Groups support up to 32 members. Membership changes require a new group key; rotation protects later messages and cannot revoke previously received content. OFFLINE KEYBOARD Use Input, Write and Read wherever third-party keyboards are allowed. Basic Input works without Full Access or contacts and types directly into the host. Write keeps the draft in the keyboard and inserts ciphertext for you to send. Read requires an explicit, time-limited decryption grant in the main app and an explicit paste action. Full Access enables local shared-state features; the app and keyboard do not initiate network requests. LOCAL HISTORY AND APPEARANCE Choose whether to save sent and received records. History is encrypted locally with no fixed record-count limit; available storage and per-item limits apply. Clean up selected records, conversations or date ranges. Dark appearance, an optional app password and encrypted identity-key backups are available. On-device phrase learning is off by default and can be enabled, disabled or cleared. OPTIONAL PROTECTION Extra layers are off by default. Choose public algorithms and their order, up to ten layers, and exchange a contact-specific scheme when needed. More layers do not imply proportionally stronger security. Chinese-character masks change the encoding, not encryption strength, and do not guarantee shorter messages. PLEASE NOTE Little Notes does not deliver messages, sync through a cloud service or recover lost keys. System file providers and external sharing apps may use the network. Secure fields and some apps disallow third-party keyboards. Ordinary message decryption does not authenticate its sender; verify cards through a trusted channel.
