Keeps shutting down
Love the magazine, hate the app. This keeps on shutting down and is driving me nuts! Stay away and buy the paper version.
AVOID!
I subscribed tried to download Octobers edition exact same as Septembers!!! Deleted it tried again only for download error. 25 emails late apple blame living etc, living etc predictably blame apple. Still trying to cancel the subscription. Staff at apple are at least trying to be helpful. Living etc staff useless!!!😡

Never miss an issue of Living Etc, no matter where you are!
I've been a huge fan of Living Etc. ever since the very first issue. When I moved to the Netherlands in 2006 I was devastated that I couldn't buy it, but fortunately I could always find someone who would send me a copy. I was beside myself when they started selling Living Etc in Holland! Now I'm in Nigeria I've been addicted to the app and I'm still on top of the latest trends. I can't wait for each new issue to arrive on my iPad! Thank you Living Etc!

Slow to release new issues
Love the magazine but utterly frustrated by iOS subscription. Magazine again not been released & store copy for sale for over 10 days. App fine but Customer Service not good enough.
Absolutely awful. Never works
Now, let me get this straight. When this app is working, the magazine looks amazing on my iPad! My gripe is that, literally every month I have to mail the publisher, and ask what my log-in details are. As the updates log me out and my normal log in details no longer work. It's so frustrating. Also, I see paper copies in the supermarket about 2 weeks before my digital version is available. It's really frustrating.

Could b so much better...
I still find Living Etc the better of all decor magazines, however what originally set it way apart from the pack has definitely taken a back seat , if not all but lost in last few years. It always stood out as having accessible style ie style that one can actually emulate at home as opposed to being full of things that are utterly unattainable to most of us. It always used to have a 'story' which included how you could do it yourself. I still remember the glee felt as I finished erecting a simple piece of glass as a whiteboard in my home office as inspired by living etc. These items have completely disappeared. The content is still attainable but the invention and imagination has been a little lost.
Secondly, in a world where magazines must be under threat from the digital world, you would have thought a great app was a priority. This is nota great app but an irritating one. If, like me, you want to do the digital equivalent. To cutting out and saving,ie using Pinterest, it's annoying. You can pin to Pinterest but only whole pages from an iPad. And after you've pinned you have to bypass an add tryng to make you download zinia even if you already have. It! You If only you could hop seamlessly back and forwards from Pinterest to this app I'd be happy, maid even put up with the decrease in imaginative 'stories'.
I write all this not to put a one off buying the app or magazine but in the hope someone at Living will do something about it.

I like the interview page which gives a fascinating insight on our clever designers and their lives.

Digital version of a great magazine
Simply put it's your favourite magazine as a digital look-book. Love being able to favourite pages and save them for easy retrieval. Picture quality is great and articles are easy to read on a full sized IPad. It would have been five stars if there were interactive features, ie. being able to buy things/ go directly to company websites shown in pictures by clicking on it or by having them listed in a hidden side bar. I would expect this from a digitised version of a magazine to be honest. The hard copy has recently had some virtual reality features and I'm surprised the digital version is rather 'flat' with no additional features (as far as I have found).
PS: I think it's a bit harsh that the previous reviewer moaned about the high-end properties. There are plenty of house-design magazines on the market which show affordable, every-day houses (go buy them?). I love seeing creative and unusual houses as an inspiration. Yes they are often very high-end but LivingEtc inspires me with colour-combinations, accessories and art ideas. I cannot afford all the fancy stuff but I can aspire to be brave in decoration my home. And I often copy and make my own things after seeing them in the magazine :)

More inspired low budget house reviews
Whilst its interesting to view the insides of wealthy couples houses around the world and to marvel at the wonders of the interiors that bankers, architects or lawyers have put together, can we have more inspiration from those with smaller budgets? Whilst I realise the larger schemes can fuel one's imagination, I'd like to see something that two struggling artists have managed to achieve for instance.

Keeps shutting down!
I love Living etc and usually get really excited when I know it's going to appear on the shelf in my local shop. I then found out there was an app that would hopefully mean I could conveniently open my favourite magazine any time of day or night. Unfortunately it keeps shutting down on me. I can't even subscribe for the annual subscription, it's on offer today, which was my plan so that I could enjoy the new edition. I think I may have to go back to buying the latest copy from my nearest shop, which is probably a good thing as I'll get some exercise, but it won't solve my problem of piles of back issues that I no longer have room for. Please can you solve the problems?

Superb sleek design
This app is very user friendly and responsive. It loads quickly and moving between pages is smooth and effortless. The design and layout are as aesthetically pleasing as the homes it features. Just when I was wondering how I would know when the latest issue was available a notification popped up on the screen to let me know and allowed me to download the latest issue in a couple of seconds. Highly recommended.

Quality all round
Have been reading this magazine since the first issue, which is proudly stored in my loft. The iPad app has just enhanced my experience hugely. It is a quality, easy to use, and fully interactive app. The screen quality is superb on my iPad 4 and I would continually recommend getting it. Both having the digital version at my side and the physical magazine on my coffee table have been great.

Livingetc app is terrible!
This is the very worst app on my iPad. It worked for the first issue and has not worked properly since. It keeps telling me I need to buy the issue first, despite being a subscriber for 4 years at least. It constantly fails to fully download. It crashes when turning the page. What is more, the magazine's website is also dreadful, with the pages constantly resetting as you try to read anything. So sensitive to touch that if you hover over a picture, it moves to another page. Totally infuriating and I will not bother to visit the site again.

Over priced and under whelmed
Why is the e version more expensive than the print? The advertising blurb claims it is available AT THE SAME price . Actually I thought it should be cheaper, so was really shocked to find quite the reverse is true.
Has it got amazing features to compensate? No. There appears to be very little functionality other than the ability to turn pages! No zoom. No double page spread. No hyperlinks. Portrait view only.
I won't be downloading anything other than the free sample. For those interested 'Grand Designs ' is much better.

Buggy, Annoying, Unreliable! DON'T BUY THIS APP UNTIL THEY FIX IT!!!!
I've been looking forward to Living Etc being released on the iPad but this is a rather lacklustre show of the magazine. The main problem is the app can only show magazine pages in portrait and given this is an Interior design magazine with many double page interior shots this rapidly becomes a bit of a handicap only being able to view one half of the image at a time. Hopefully this will be fixed as it doesn't appear to be a problem with any other magazine I download.
I'm not a subscriber so can't comment on download problems, I was able to download my sample issue without difficulty.
September 2012, Having bought a few issues I can now comment on the app. As mentioned above no landscape format view in an interiors mag that features many double page spreads is a ridiculous omission.
The reason I've marked it so low as I still like the magazine is because I have tried at least 6 times to fill the reader's survey and 6 times it's crashed when I've gone to submit it after completing the whole thing BLOODY INFURIATING!!!! Fix This Now

Very poor app, great magazine
Please make the app stay on the last read page rather than automatically going to the store every time the app is closed. I have already bought the magazine so you don't need to force the store on me. Also please sort out the bookmarks whenever I go to put in the bookmark it puts it on a different page near the front of the magazine and sometimes even sets it for a previous magazine. Please get these things fixed!!

Disappointing just a PDF of the mag for a £1.00 premium!
Poor interaction, expensive content for just what is effectively the magazine in print. Defaults to the store so if you don't read it in one go or if your iPad locks, you have to navigate to where you left off, content is difficult to read and is effectively just a pdf of the magazine with little or no thought given to readabilityIf you are looking for anything special the avoid and buy the magazine which is cheaper and does what you would expect.
Must try harder!

Living etc
Took ages to download May edition. Huge file size. Must take care, this will fill my 16 gig iPad in no time. Magazine appears in newsstand. I would prefer it to be freestanding, like the Telegraph newspaper.
The magazine is just a complete copy of the real thing. Adverts and all. It is fixed in portrait view. You can't turn it to landscape to make it bigger. It is much too small to read most things. The app instructions about zooming in are wrong for my iPad. Looking at details is very hard, it takes ages and the page goes all over the place. You can't look at a double page spread.
Lazy, lazy app developers. Has it been tested by someone who usually uses an iPad to read magazines and newspapers?
A huge disappointment.
Why can't this be in a similar format to the Sun or the Telegraph?
Please try again, Living etc. I really enjoy the magazine and it would be great to have an accessible version on my iPad, with ad skipping, links to the articles, glorious photos and text that is big enough to read easily.

Rip Off!
So I've been waiting for this app for ages as I love Living Etc and love mags on my iPad. Unfortunately I can't say what the app is actually like as I fell at the first hurdle due to the rip off prices! This magazine is £3.90 to buy in the UK in printed format but single editions in the app are an outrageous £4.99!! Unlike other magazine apps there is only a monthly or yearly rolling subscription option, no 3month or 6 month option, and even the monthly rolling sub is more per issue (£3.99) than print.
Every other mag app I have offers a discount over printed editions which makes perfect sense due to the lack of physical production and distribution costs.
Sorry Living Etc and IPC Media but you've gotta be joking!
