Traveler to Laos - Slow app, lots of fraud
First time traveling to Laos. I was recommended this app. Any convenience it offers is offset by slow connection, constant reloading, and lag.
The app charges fees for transactions which quickly adds up.
The app makes it easy for small merchants to rip you off. Better off holding cash, cash is king.

Taxi good QR bad
Works fine for ordering taxis however the LOCA pay QR is not good. You choose to pay an amount in Kip it then converts this to USD via a ludicrous exchange rate and charges your account with this figure. This was regularly off by about 10-15%. Would not recommend LOCA qr pay.

Not worth it
They haven’t refunded the active credit card check transaction which they said they would and they charge a sizeable fee for every transaction in USD which then converts to your card’s currency, inflating the price in your local currency further. In the end, you pay a lot more than the bill.
Solution if code doesn’t send…
Like others I wasn’t receiving the text code when setting up an account. If you tap HELP it’ll take you to a chat where they can send your code that way. Fixed. Still, shame it didn’t work as supposed to.
This hacked my phone
Downloaded the app and within a week my email was hacked. The look and feel of the app is sketchy, I thought at the time it didn’t feel right and I was right. If you have no other way of getting around Laos, then ensure you use an email with no access to any other of your accounts. Or better yet make a new email account with no other connection to you than this app.

grabを使い慣れている方には驚きの使い勝手ですねね。目的地が検索できないし、迎え場所のピンもずれているし、配車の前に概算料金が出ないし、ドライバーとのチャットが繋がらない時の連絡方法も分かりにくいです。出国の前にアカウントとアプリを削除します。またヴィエンチャンへ来る事があるかもしれませんが、その時までに改善されていると嬉しいです。
