Amazing Start
Ride was really smooth. Great for “getting out there” when it’s just easier to stay in sometimes (aka when it’s a million degrees out), and super cool I can preview riding in places I haven’t actually taken my bike to yet.
I’d love to see integration with Garmin watches for heart rate (low priority) and a calorie calculator (high priority for me) for those of us who track such things.
Going to keep the sub for a year and hope to see this thing keep on getting developed.
And a little message for the developer: get back out there on Reddit. There are a ton of people who aren’t total asses, frequent the site less, and would love to see this thing but didn’t get a chance to.

Kyle—thanks for the thoughtful review and for sticking around with the sub. Reviews like this actually help me figure out what to build next, so genuinely appreciated. Quick updates on your asks: Calorie tracking—coming in the next update. Calculated from power and ride duration, shown on the post-ride summary and in your lifetime totals. Garmin watch / heart rate—I hear you. Right now LocalRide pairs directly with any Bluetooth heart rate strap (Wahoo TICKR, Polar H10, Garmin HRM-Pro, etc.) so if your watch can broadcast HR over BLE, it'll connect. Native Apple Watch support isn't on the roadmap (Apple's restrictions on third-party HR broadcasting make it painful), but a Garmin watch in broadcast mode should work today. Previewing rides in places you haven't been—glad that's landing. That's exactly why I built the route import + featured climb stuff. More featured routes are coming. And the Reddit nudge is fair. I've been heads-down shipping and let that slip. Getting back out there this week. Keep the feedback coming—early users like you are the reason this thing keeps getting better. —Anthony, LocalRide

Thanks so much for the kind words — really glad you’re enjoying it! 🙏 Love hearing that the hill resistance feels realistic and that drawing routes directly has been useful. I’m actively rolling out new features and improvements based on rider feedback, so lots more coming. Appreciate you being part of the early journey! 🚴♂️
Finally ride real routes indoors
I’ve used Zwift and other platforms, but this fills a completely different gap. It’s perfect for practicing local climbs, preparing for outdoor rides, or just riding familiar roads when the weather is bad.
The app is fast, stable, and the resistance matching feels natural. Excited to see where this goes — huge potential.

This is an awesome review — thank you! You nailed exactly what I was going for: real roads, simple setup, no fuss. And yeah, the "practicing local climbs before riding them outside" use case is one of my favorites too. Lots more coming — if there's anything you'd love to see added, I'm all ears. Cheers! 🤙
