About

You have one evening in a city you do not know. Two restaurants are open, both look fine, and the reviews were written two years ago by people who left the next morning. Ask the people who actually live there. LocalSay is a question with a clock on it. You ask, locals vote, and when time runs out the answer is whatever the city chose. No star ratings, no sponsored places, no strangers on the other side of the world with an opinion about a street they have never walked down. HOW IT WORKS Ask in under a minute. Name the two places you are torn between, or name none at all and let locals tell you where to go. Set how long you can wait: one hour, or twelve. Locals vote. Only people whose home city is that city can answer, and a vote cast from inside the city is marked as verified — so the answers come from the neighbourhood rather than from the internet. Go. When the clock runs out you get the answer, with a pin straight to Maps. FOR PEOPLE WHO LIVE THERE Answering is free and always will be. A vote takes three seconds. Suggest the place everybody asks you about, watch it win, and climb your city's board. Nobody who lives in a city ever pays here — you are the reason the app works. PLAN MY TIME Four free hours and no idea what to do with them? Ask a local to write the afternoon for you: where to start, what to do next, when to eat, with their own notes attached. They write it, you follow it, you can ask them what they meant. This is the paid part. Local Pass: seven days for one trip, or a year if you travel often. Everything else is free. WHERE IT WORKS Berlin, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Lisbon, Rome, Prague, Istanbul and New York. HONEST ABOUT ONE THING A new city starts empty, so LocalSay runs a small number of guide accounts in each one. They vote, suggest places that have been chosen before, and ask about a question a day. They can never decide a question on their own: with no real votes, they cast two at most, on two different places. The app says which suggestions came from them, and Settings explains it all. Ask the city.
