Looks like I’m not the only one
I’ve used this app for years with great success and the past use is the only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1. Y’all really jacked something up BAD for this many people, myself now included, to report the same issue of the app blocking network connection. What’s worse is that I’ve read a large number of reviews stating they’ve done the whole delete and reinstall bit with no success, and yet the responses from y’all are literally just telling people to do exactly the same thing. I’m convinced it’s just AI responses because there’s no way you could be like “Sorry that you’re having trouble! Do the same thing that didn’t work the first several times to fix it :)”
The delete and reinstall also didn’t work for me, multiple times, so for the giggles I’m posting this just to see if I get the same generic answer. On top of the predatory 3 day trial into a subscription; really, only 3 days and not a month? Or even a week? 1 day is now enough to see y’all decided to tank your own product for no reason so enjoy the negative review bombs I guess.

Literally just blocks everything
v2.3.2+ is broken on iOS 17.x
The firewall no longer connects when using a device running iOS 17.x versions or lower. I’ve submitted into to the devs support email address, but no reply from them in the 2 weeks since I’ve submitted the email. When attempting to activate the firewall, all network communications are blocked by the app. I’ve had to fully delete the app from my devices so I can continue to access WiFi/cellular on my phone. Please roll back the app release to v2.3 or release a new version to fix these issues asap. Edit1 - despite the Dev’s response, the app is still not connecting on my 17.x devices. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app and VPN profile multiple times, with no success. Edit2 - still broken with the v2.4.0 update. The same behavior described above. Edit3 - v2.4.1 also still broken. Edit4 - surprise surprise, v2.4.2 is also still broken on iOS 17.x versions. Edit5 - in response to the dev: I have already tried deleting the app, removing the VPN profile, and doing a clean reinstall multiple times. The clean reinstall does not fix the problem. I don’t know how to say it any more clearly - the app continues to be broken, despite these basic “troubleshooting” suggestions that should ‘tOtAlLy’ fix the issue. “Our support systems are undergoing updates.” Really? For the past 7 months that users have been reporting this issue?? Have you been operating without any support staff whatsoever for more than half a year?? Edit6 - for shiggles, I did another clean reinstall of the app, just in case. And now I can confirm 100% that no, the problem is not fixed with a reinstall.
Edit 7 - v2.4.4 is still broken for iOS 17.x versions. I did a clean reinstall of the app when I saw the new update. Same behavior described above, the firewall no longer connects, leaving WiFi in a permanent “connecting” loop. Crazy that this is still ongoing. Still broken.

We understand the firewall is blocking your network on iOS 17.x, despite your diligent efforts with updates. This is a known connection loop bug. Please delete the app, remove the VPN profile from iPhone settings, and perform a clean reinstall to reset the connection. Our support systems are undergoing updates.
Terrible battery usage
Do not get this app! It uses tons of battery in the background without touching the app in months.

I had some trackers that were getting through the firewall, so I figured I’d update the app and see if that helped. Big mistake. Should have read the recent reviews first.
Now when I try to enable the firewall, it just gets stuck in and endless on/off stuttering loop that cuts my device off from the internet. I have to remove the app from my VPN configurations to restore internet access.
Nonsense like this is exactly why I always disable automatic updates for everything. For every 1 update that actually improves something, there are 20 that just make things worse, even to the point of rendering a program completely unusable.

Was good for a few months
I’ve had this ad blocker for a few months now and randomly my internet started getting really bad I would lose signal and not be able to use internet for a while also I didn’t have the vpn enabled I only had the ad blocker and when I deleted this app my internet suddenly got better
Functional and free
This works remarkably well even at the free plan. I’ve been considering upgrading to paid but haven’t yet, so I can’t speak on the value of that.

New update still makes app useless
Saw there was an update and hoped the issues had been fixed. While the app no longer causes the phone to lose internet connection anymore, which is good, it still cannot connect to the firewall or vpn, which still makes the app useless to have. It basically instantly gives up and says there’s no internet connection when there is, then repeats that every second. Even complete reinstall of the app did not fix the issue. On iOS 15.8.7 and iPhone 7 Still hoping the devs would revert back to the version prior to their Jan update that broke the app. Given how every review since that Jan update has said the app is now broken, even on phones newer than mine, and none have said it worked, I’d think that be the best option, but for some reason they’re refusing to

Despite most reviews saying as such, and dev responses saying they know the problem exists since January, the devs haven’t been able to fix it and refuse to revert back to a previous version when the app worked. It’s a great shame, given this had been a great app that I’ve had for years, but I’m slowly losing hope on the future of this app

We sincerely regret the persistent "no internet connection" loop. We understand how frustrating this is, especially given your long-term support. This indicates a deeper network handshake issue. Please ensure you also remove any old VPN profiles from your iPhone settings after deleting the app, then reinstall for a clean setup.

Our firewall runs on-device. Apple manages all billing, so manage your subscriptions and request refunds directly in iPhone Settings.

Lockdown funktioniert auf dem iPad gerade so gut, dass ich es vermeide, die App sofort zu aktualisieren. Ich warte erst einmal ab. Ich habe schon sehr schlechte Erfahrungen nach einer Aktualisierung gemacht, wo gar nichts mehr ging. Ich habe nicht den Eindruck, dass der App Entwickler eine aktualisierte Version überhaupt vorher testet Hat man an die aktuelle Version geladen gibt es ja kein Zurück mehr.

Vollständige Alternativen wie 1Blocker und AdGuard kosten 5,49 EUR bzw. 8,99 EUR im Jahr(!), nicht monatlich.
Kostenfrei bekommt man hier eine überwiegend defekte Software mit einem absichtlich zu stark reduziertem Basisschutz. Ziel ist hier ganz offensichtlich nicht der Schutz des Benutzers, sondern der maximale Umsatz. Dafür sind dem Entwickler auch fragwürdige Methoden und so genannte “dark patterns” nicht zu schade. Ein unerfahrener Benutzer auf der Suche nach Privatsphäre ist hier schnell 70 EUR los, ohne zu wissen, wofür.
Insgesamt ein unseriöser Anbieter, der es zudem schafft, seine App selbst zu sabotieren. Früher einmal brauchbar. Nach vielen enttäuschten Versprechungen und der maximal kommerziellen Ausrichtung inklusive Fokus auf externes VPN mittlerweile vollständig unbrauchbar. Die Definition von Geldschneiderei.

Broken now, no use trying.
Devs broke the app 4+ months ago as you can’t use wifi with this VPN. Haven’t bothered to fix it since so likely a dead app now. Was fantastic and have been a user for probably 7+ years. Been so good I can’t recall ever having an issue until now.

Now tracks you like the apps it’s built to protect you from
This app used to be great. It provided a tool to protect against persistent trackers and the developer’s claims could be validated through their open source project. Now, that project sits stale, not having been updated for years, and the current version of this app states it has the same trackers it was built to stop. I didn’t mind so much when they started to put features behind paywalls but they crossed the line with adding trackers and I can no longer support the product

Now useless
The developers sold out and now numerous domains can’t be blocked. No longer a good open source app, now a suspicious closed source app which won’t block what it should. They appear to be taking money from specific services to allow adverts. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Plenty of good firewalls and DNS block services out there and this isn’t one of those.

Looks good but no audits and minimal customization
The firewall is good for basic ad-blocking via DNS blocks, but it’s relatively simple. VPN is effective but moderately slow.
