Logger for Shortcuts User Reviews

Love ❤️

Awesome

Just what shortcuts is missing - good price and just “does what it says on the tin”.
Within a day it’s helped debug some more complex shortcuts and acts as a place to log what’s going on

Thanks!

Great App for Shortcuts Development

Logger is a great app for shortcuts development.

A Must Have!

If you are writing shortcuts on your phone, this is so much better than a Quick Look action. A quick look gives a moment in time reference and then is gone. This combines all your checks through a script into one place that gives context to an entry and where things may have gone off the rails. I recouped the $5 for it with the time saved on the very first shortcut I used it for.

Invaluable

Literally invaluable if you build shortcuts of any complexity.

Just what I needed

Worth every penny for debugging/monitoring Shortcuts

Overall great but would love to have tags included in exports

logger has been an incredible change in the way I troubleshoot my automations and complex shortcuts.

Great must have app for any Apple Shortcuts developer

Great must have app for any Apple Shortcuts developer. Reduces complexity providing insights in even the most complex shortcuts.

Do yourself a favor & buy it

This app will pay dividends in time saved/headaches avoided when troubleshooting those shortcuts that don’t want to work. It’s worth the investment to say the least. Actively updated with great devs.

Excellent!

I wish I could give this 6 stars. This makes Shortcut development *so* much faster than Quick Look.

Excellent!

Just found this tool last weekend, implemented it into two of my shortcuts and it works beautifully on macOS 14.5, iOS 17.5.1, and iPadOS 18 beta 2.

Thank you for this nice tool! (Just a little bit sad it took me four year to discover it!😃)

It is a useful addition next to Data Jar, Actions, Toolbox Pro, and Pushcut.

Saves so much time and trouble and so nicely executed

Every time I use Logger, I feel surprised at how useful the log is. I really appreciate how Logger works so well with Shortcuts that it feels built-in. Super nice work.

No way to report bugs

Well, the “App Support” link goes to a 404 page and there’s no way to contact the company on the website nor within the app. Anyway, the “Copy Title” function doesn’t work. Otherwise good app.

A night/day difference for developing Shortcuts.

Earlier this summer I spent days developing Shortcut automations for a project that would have taken me weeks of absolute drudgery. It took me “days” and not “day” because I had no practical way of seeing why my shortcut wasn’t working, and my workarounds were almost as tedious as the project I was trying to automate.

Logger is the solution. I just worked through a similar project with Logger on hand, and EVERYTHING went so much more smoothly—I could see where I’d told Shortcuts to do something foolishly, I could see where inputs and outputs deviated from my intentions, I could see everything. Project took me a day, and not days.

Must-have app for debugging Shortcuts

If you have any interest in writing shortcuts for your iOS device, this is an indispensable app. I can't recommend it highly enough. It's been we'll worth the purchase price for me.

Doesn’t work

I turn on logging, put the actions in the shortcut configure them, run it, and receive no logging.

Response from developer

Hi, Sorry to hear that you're having issues. Could you check that Logger isn't paused (open the app and look for the ⏸️ icon in the top left, if it shows ▶️ then tap the button)? Before 1.2.0, the app started with logging "paused", which would behave exactly as you describe. If you're still having problems, please emails us at logger@snailedit.dev

Lots of potential

I am constantly monitoring many logs, some in a terminal window, others in their own thing, pm2, glances, etc, each app has their own logging method (log.debug, console.log, >> stdout, etc), not all log a timestamp, some do in UTC, others locale, etc and I end up with different windows spread all over multiple monitors. It’s no-man’s land.

I dont know how active R&D for this is, seems nothing released in a year, but I saw this app today and in a “revelation” I envisioned it similar to Pushover (the standard central notification tool) but as a central logging tool. The multi-media options, cloud sync, tags, titles, are awesome ideas I had not even considered, content with tailing logs all these years.

I would work on that concept, PROMOTE, add a webhook to write from wherever, some kind of markdown maybe? and this will take off. Don’t give it up.

It doesn't work.

I want my money back. And the screenshots look so promising.
