About
Your photos made it to the NAS. Now what?
If you back up your photo library to a Synology, QNAP, Unraid or TrueNAS box - or any other SMB share - you know the problem: the files are safe, and invisible. To actually look at them from your phone, the usual answer is running a photo server, importing everything into its database, and maintaining one more service.
Loomey Viewer skips all of that. It connects to your share directly over SMB and browses your folders exactly as they are. And it isn't tied to the network: a USB drive plugged into your device or a local folder on it works just the same.
HOW IT WORKS
• Connect to any SMB share - Synology, QNAP, Unraid, TrueNAS, a Windows or Mac share
• Browse your folder structure as-is: no import, no index, no database
• View your photos and play your videos straight from the share
• Also reads USB drives connected to your device and local on-device folders
• No server component - nothing to install or maintain on the NAS
WHAT IT DOESN'T DO (ON PURPOSE)
Loomey Viewer is exactly what the name says: a viewer, not a photo platform. It doesn't build a search index, doesn't do face recognition, and never reorganizes your files. Your archive stays a plain folder tree - readable by any tool, forever. And because it browses live over SMB, you need to be on the same network as your NAS (or connected to it via VPN) - while USB drives and local folders need no network at all.
NO STRINGS
• No account, no sign-up
• No cloud — your media never leaves your network
• No ads
• Completely free
TWO APPS, ONE IDEA
Loomey Viewer is the "browse" half of the Loomey family. Its sibling, the Loomey backup app, gets full-quality originals from your iPhone onto the NAS - verified, deduplicated, stored as plain files. Loomey Viewer is how you enjoy them afterwards. Each app works fine without the other: Loomey Viewer reads any folder of media, however it got there.
