logging out/not recognizing login
i am forcibly logged out of the app periodically. each time this happens it takes about a day for the app to recognize my "credentials" which have not changed. please stop
NEW UPDATW IMRPOVED EVERYTHING
Before the update, everything was slow. The interface was bad too. Now the update made everything better
Search function is horrendous
Good luck finding what you’re looking for, unless it is minutely specific. Can’t even pull up a list of options for a specific author. At least the librarians aren’t out of a job!
App update not so fab
The app had a nicer , more visually pleasing menu/interface before the update 1 month ago (mostly under “account” feature). Since the update I frequently have to log back in. Otherwise it works fine.
Devs Ruined App
Instead of optimizing the ‘events’ sections to be more fluid, you guys replaced it with the LAPL website… Please undo that; some of us like the option of adding events to our iOS Calendar. Apps shouldn’t rely on a webpage layout…

App is broken
I’m having the same experience as SurlyGrrrl (cannot log in my account) and tonight the app cannot perform a search. Thank goodness you can still use a browser to access the site.
Where did this UX come from
I opened up an updated version of the app and all I could think was “What the heck is this?” The app has all the clunkiness and clutter of the version in the library. The typeface is small. At least with the full desktop version you can get Tessa. This is … something.
BAD App
Seriously fix the app when you can’t see your holds or books on loan.
Great library, awful app
This app rarely works: it's very glitchy. It times out before I can access my account, the OPAC is inaccurate, and the branch locator freezes. I wish LAPL would dump Boopsie for a better vendor.
Unusable
I don’t think they’ve spent any money to maintain this app. It hasn’t worked since the beginning of the year.
Unusable
I had to delete the LAPL app today because it was just a blank screen, despite having used it two days ago. I went to the App Store to reinstall & now it looks completely different. The UI is completely different & when I try to add my card I repeatedly receive one of two errors: “HTTP error” or “invalid credentials.” My card number is the same one it’s been for at least three years & my PIN hasn’t changed in 10 years. What happened to the other LAPL app??

Please Fix Your App
It works but is extremely outdated and the UX is almost a deterrent.
Example: if you type into the search box, the keyboard doesn’t go away unless you delete what you typed…

Awful outdated app
Holds and Loans never load without timing out. Very outdated UI/UX. You’re better off just going to LAPL website via Safari.
Its actually quite surprising that a world leading public library system has such an awful app. LAPL is the gold standard amongst public systems, and the app doesn’t match this level of service / reputation.

Please add Landscape support
For all of us that us this app on a tablet, having it limited to portrait orientation is clunky. Landscape orientation would be much more useful, so please add it.
The LA County Library app supports landscape mode, as do other smaller municipal systems.

Not competitive
Why does the LAPL app still feel like it’s from iOS 7 and cobbled together with third-party interface elements? Why doesn’t it support longstanding iOS features, like notifications and Wallet?
I just downloaded LA County’s library app, and I’m stunned. It is *vastly* superior to LAPL’s. It supports modern features like Apple Wallet for the library card; notifications for holds, due items, events, and room reservations; and the interface feels modern/current and uses current, standard iOS interface elements.
I don’t expect a library app to offer features on the bleeding edge of tech, like an AI chatbot librarian or anything (though that would be really nice), but it should at least be keeping up with relevant features that the OS has offered within the past couple of years. If LA County can do it, LAPL can do it too. Come on.

Love the library but not this app
LA Public Library is one of a kind, but the functionality of this problematic. I can’t change the status of holds or borrowed books from the app. It tells me I’ve changed the status but nothing changes. Feeling helpless
Slow loading
Not sure if I’m the only one having this issue, but the app takes quite some time to load, especially when it comes to My Account.
Bug
Noticed that when I go to view my records to check on what I have checked out it only shows twenty items checked out. But I know this is wrong because I have more than twenty items checked out. When I check my account through the website it shows the correct amount of items checked out which I thirty

Good, could use an update
Wish it had a “My List” (saved wishlist) function like the web version does.
Apple Wallet and search
Please add support for Apple Wallet for the user’s library card. If possible, please include the ability to have the card in Apple Wallet automatically pop up as a suggestion on the Lock Screen when the user gets close to library branches. For an example of this, look at the Starbucks app.
Also, the search results don’t match those on the website. Searching for a term on the website that brings up over 3,900 results when filtered to one branch receives an error of “No Results” in the app for the same search term and the same filter for the same branch.
