User reviews

Worked great - very interactive.

I think they updated the locations (some not perfect but even - as stated before - the zoo staff couldn’t tell us where everything was. The zoo should work with this app and it would be perfect.

Response from developer

Hello SpideyMike - Thank you for your great review. We have been updating our locations and are soon to be releasing a whole new map with all updated locations throughout the zoo - there will be literally hundreds of locations all correctly placed so people do not get lost or go to an empty exhibit. We are doing our best to bring deliver the most accurate ZooMap ever! - Team BetterMaps

Not Up to Date!

I, too, got this app to be able to find all the animals my daughters wanted to see. I read a review from November that stated the same thing I’m about to state. This app lead me through paths that are no longer active at the zoo. These changes were made due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I spent half of my time lost, going back and forth, because of this app. The developer is not entirely to blame, as the zoo also has no clear guides to their animals. I was mostly stressed out trying to find the tigers and jaguars, which we gave up on because it was 4pm and we still hadn’t found them, despite zoo keepers telling us they were available. My suggestion is for the developers to actually visit the zoo and update their app accordingly, as some of the animals that were in the zoo were not available in the app. Please call to see what restaurants and animals are available if you’re planning to visit, a lot has changed at LA Zoo! Good luck.

Response from developer

Hello GUINEA PIGIE - we are so sorry you had a bad experience with the app - we are changing, updating and upgrading all the time. Sometimes it is difficult to get the right information as even the zoo staff doesn't know where stuff is...As you experienced yourself. Thank you for bringing this all to our attention, we work hard to bring our users only the best possible apps and will continue to do our best. Team BetterMaps

It’s ok

I got the app so we could find all the animals that my son wanted to see. We followed the map to the lion and there was a sign saying that it’s closed. There was no animal in there and no water, just a sign. Next he wanted to see the bear and tiger (both located next to each other according to the map). Same thing. Closed and just a sign. After that was jaguar. The map took us to some jaguar decorations where the jaguars should be.

This app is nice but is not kept up to date.
Also, the map rotates as you move around. Sometimes the map is sideways, sometimes it’s upside down, sometimes it’s diagonal, sometimes it’s right side up. It would be nice to have a feature to keep the map in an upright position.

Response from developer

Hello @HelloMyNameIsPanda - Sometimes zoos close or move animals without notice. We try our best to keep our locations accurate and updated and will continue to do so. We are sorry for any inconvenience. As for the rotating - The map only rotates after you receive directions to your destination. We purposely set the map this way so you are always facing north. We believe this helps you to make the correct turns when necessary by simply pointing your device in the right direction. And so far, a majority of our users said they love this aspect. Sorry again for any inconvenience.
