About

LOUD plays the music files you already own. No cloud, no account, no ads, no subscription — and no network connections of any kind. Point it at a folder and that is your library: your MP3s and FLACs with their real tags and covers, read from the files themselves. Browse by album, artist, genre or track, jump by letter, build playlists, shape the sound with a five-band EQ, and watch an 8-bit spectrum bounce over the album sleeve. WHAT IT DOES • Plays MP3 and FLAC with full tags and embedded cover art (M4A/AAC and WAV too) • Reads one folder you choose — subfolders included, new files found automatically • Dynamic Island support • Has its own folder in the Files app: drag music in from Finder over a cable, AirDrop it, or use any file tool you like • Playlists — LOUD calls them posters — built from tracks, whole albums, artists or genres • A queue you can see and reorder: what plays next is always the truth, shuffle included • A five-band equalizer with presets, wired into the actual audio path • An 8-bit spectrum analyzer drawn over the sleeve, measured from the sound • Gapless playback, and crossfade if you want it • Lock screen and Control Center transport, background playback • THE TAGS: every field inside a file, and where each value came from — so a wrongly named track can be diagnosed, not guessed at WHAT IT DOES NOT DO • No account, no sign-up, nothing to subscribe to • No analytics, no telemetry, no artwork lookup, not even an update check • Nothing is collected and nothing is transmitted • Your library index sits in an encrypted database on your device Music used to be a thing you kept. LOUD is built on the idea that it still is: your files, on your device, and nowhere else.

What's New in LOUD

0.1.1

September 16, 2026

NEW • Long press anything — a track, an album, an artist, a genre, a playlist — and choose: play it now, play it next, or add it to the end of the queue. The last two do not interrupt what is already playing. • THE TAGS can write now. Fix a wrong artist or a missing album on MP3 and FLAC files, in place, in your own files. Frames LOUD does not understand are copied across untouched, and embedded artwork survives byte for byte. • Cover art from the folder. If your albums keep a cover.jpg or folder.jpg beside the music, LOUD uses it when a file has no artwork of its own. Read off your disk — there is no lookup and nothing leaves the device. • Swipe between screens. A fling goes where the arrow drawn on the screen says it goes. FIXED • Durations. Tracks used to show 0:00 until you had played them once. The reader works them out while it scans instead — exactly for FLAC and variable-bitrate MP3. • Tablets and foldables keep their layout on short screens, in both orientations. TIDIED • The Dials drops four rows that were never settings. Still no cloud, no account, no ads, no telemetry, no artwork lookup, and no update check. LOUD makes no network connections of any kind.
