How you remember Ultima II but better

Played a lot of Ultima II over my friends shoulder as a kid. Played a lot of Questron as well. This scratches that itch. So fun. Beat it this morning and immediately purchased the sequel. Played 19 hours.

Fun

Really fun little ultima esque game, had to look up a couple things to progress but overall was just a good experience

Only $1.99?

I just defeated the final boss and immediately rushed here to buy the sequel. If that’s not a ringing endorsement then I don’t know what is. Seriously, I don’t even find most of the Ultima games fun (interesting but not fun). I had an incredible blast playing this. Like this is how I imagine an Ultima remake would look like for people who grew up after the Apple II was a thing.

Don’t think it over. Get this and let it waste like 10-12 hours of your life. It’s well worth it.

Great game

If you are a fan of the early Ultimas, this game is for you! Love this game as well as the second one.

If you loved Ultima

Its a great homage to the Ultima games I loved as a kid, adapted for a mobile experience.

One of the best games on iOS.

The design of this game is quite simple but for a one handed game that is a plus. For how streamlined and intuitive the controls and graphic is the story is cool and gameplay is charming and challenging. The game is basic but given but the map feels big. The world is open and interesting to explore but not overwhelming in it being a grind. I would say it’s a perfect balance. I have played ultima in the past (apple iie and nes) and some other ultima clones (one for ti-82 that was excellent) and this is top notch.

Finally I would like to say that the gameplay loop is appropriate for old school gamers that have since lost interest in gaming as well as modern gamers interested in retro style gaming. It’s the perfect balance of retro vibe and streamlined gameplay. With very little confusion.

Unfortunately there isn’t a lot of info on how to play online or game faqs. I would seek out a gameplay demo of the first 10 minutes so you don’t starve to death or die.

Retro throw back

Great game brought back Questron and Ultima feelings. On to the next.

Pass

Ultra tedious and unrewarding. It’s Ultima ][ with slightly better graphics minus anything interesting or imaginative.

Garriott, Ultima, Lowlander!

Both of the Lowlander games are excellent! Reminiscent of Ultima 3 and games from 1980’s, but current for today, these games are a blast. Puzzles that drive you crazy and then suddenly seem so obvious! Well worth the diminutive price. Love these games!

Love this game

I’m a huge fan of ultima which has a great balance of adventure, side quests, epic story, etc. I used to get tired of all the combat as it took much of the game play time. Lowlander is perfect. Right MoZ of everything and a good story. Plus I no longer have as many hours to game so Lowlander meets that need of being the right amount of game play. We’ll done, keep em coming!

Brilliant game and perfect homage to Ultima!

Lowlander is a phenomenal game that brought back a lot of fond memories of playing Ultima III and IV for hour upon hour on my Commodore 64. The storyline, game play, sense of humor, complexity were fantastic and ended up working quite well on my iPhone. Kudos to the author. Would love to see more games just like this.

Amazing Ultima-style RPG!

Not too much to say that’s not already been said - this is a really fun game in the style of Ultima II. Would wholly recommend if you’re a fan of the older Ultima games and are itching for more!

Awesome Game. Huge Map!

This game was unexpectedly delightful. Great story, huge map, and took me a long time to complete (about 14 hours). If you’re a fan of old time RPGs then this game is absolutely for you. Can’t wait to try out number 2!

Ultima(-te) Fun!

For anyone who’s life was changed by Ultima, this game is a retro-must.

Back to the 80s

LOVE this game! Reminds me of Ultima Exodus so much, my first RPG computer game. Long live Lord British! Massive thanks to those who made this - I needed this in my life again, lol!

Wonderful retro hommage

Playing this game, I felt like I was back on my old Apple II clone! They did an excellent job recreating the feel of a retro game like Ultima without all the technical problems of games of that era! Please make more of these!

Wow....

Thank you - at last a wonderful recreation that actually looks and feels like the originals. I would enjoy third game just because it is NOT a “pay to win” piece of junk. But this is so well done it is amazing.

Just thank you!

Wonderful tribute to the Ultima series!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for creating this tribute to the Ultima series. This game brought back such fond memories of playing Ultima III on my Commodore 64 as a kid. Very well done!

Perfect 1980s Ultima game recreation

This is a Flawless recreation of the early Ultima games. It has great balance between difficulty and playability. It is a quest based game where the people you meet give you tasks to perform, which then show up on a checklist so that you don’t have to write them down. The mapping works really, and everyone should know that you can pan the map by swiping it.

No glitches.
No ads.

Perfect!

Ultima 2.5

Overall an enjoyable game. I played it all the way through twice. Looking forward to playing Lowlander 2. It’s very reminiscent of Ultima 2 with many improvements. Best Ultima-like game for the iPhone. The beginning can be a little tough and my first time trying this game I gave up to soon and didn’t play it again until 3 months later.

I did run into some bugs(11/4/2019):
-Talking to Holly quest never clears
-Once when going through the 2nd time the dungeons got messed up and the maps all showed up as revealed.
-Once auto-saving got turned off without me knowing. I died and the game reverted to a much earlier save point then a manual save I had made.
-Some minor glitches in shops especially when selling a duplicate of an equipped item.
-Upon completion of the game Holly was unaware her brother was freed.
