Wish I could hear how to say the words.
Old Norse
I love this app when doing a course it provides great repetition of words plus a few extra but useful wordsHaving the separate sections means you can narrow down on difficult areas. Being multiple choice makes it easier to choose and see how words connect with another and what sound shifts occur over time. Much more than just a vocabulary drill!

For scholars
If like me you haven’t got a degree in English literature and know things such as genitive and nominative etc and you are just looking to learn old Norse this is not for you.
You have to know some things (unless just doing the vocabulary section) to learn from this otherwise it’s just a hap hazard multiple choice basher without learning the difference between word forms or how to use them in sentences.

Could be worse, could be better.
Audio or even written out “how to pronounce” feature would be ideal. Like, “Kona” = “k-oh-nah” the only reason I know some of them to some extent is because I know some Norwegian and I feel like if there is people out there who don’t have any experience will be saying this all incorrectly.
Daring idea
This is what the internet is for: access to those thing before it arrived.
There is a wide variety of drills and paradigms in all these languages.
The developer may wish to consider making a way of recording what the user forgets for a retest, perhaps also a more effective random selector.
Great stuff; carry on!

Please make it more customizable
This would be better if one could create customizable vocabulary lists. I would also like the option to change the order in which cases are displayed in the reference window (for example be able to have Nominative Accusative Dative Genitive) . An option to have a chime or buzzer for audio feedback would be useful. Right now, I don't recommend this app.

Good practice
Could use pronunciations and different practice methods (like how Duolingo, for example, has problems where you have to type the answer without a word bank, and some where one forms sentences with a word bank), but overall, with what little there is available for this language, this is good practice for what is out there, but has room for improvement.

I love that this exists
I took Old Norse in college and was looking for a way to keep from losing everything. I am so pleased to find this delightful app. Some pronunciation help might improve it for people with no prior Old Norse experience, but, overall, it's a great app for getting a little practice in while waiting at the doctor's, taking on the train, or just relaxing at home.

Good but could use some pronunciations
This app is awesome. Full of nouns and verbs as well as all the tenses associated. My only complaint is that there's no instructions on how to pronounce the words so I don't know if I'm learning it correctly
Pronunciation
Fantastic app! Just needs some voice overs of the words to better grasp how to speak it
Great but a few tweaks
Good app overall but there needs to be proper pronunciation guides as well. I would have gladly paid another five bucks just for that. Also each 'section' should level independently.
Great Purchase!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get this app!!! If you are one the fence, get it!!!!!!
I love all of these apps!!!
Would love to see an Old High German app!!! Would also love to see an app that helps students learn basic sound changes in linguistics: Grimm's law, etc.
Thank you for these apps!!!

Great app
I've been studying the old norse language on my own, it is of a beautiful tongue. But the only thing I'd add in this great app is a voice over. Learning proper annunciation has proven to be the hardest.
Super app - but room for improvement
This app is really good for learning and drilling vocabulary, declining nouns and practising conjugating verb forms. The content is considerable and the level of training is in-depth. One cannot quibble too much with the basic concept. So why didn't I give it 5 stars? Well some improvements could be made. For one the vocabulary testing should be based on word-frequency studies, which is apparently not the case now. You should start off with the most common words in the language and gradually progress to the less common ones. But some words are already occurring at an early stage that I've never heard of, and I did a total of 4 years of ON and modern Icelandic at university. Next, I would like to see some way of Favouriting particular words you want to test later into a separate list. That would be a splendid and extremely useful feature as at the moment you can only keep drilling a word by staying on the same level all the time. Then I would like the option of adding your own words. Then I would like to see other ways of testing you on the words than mere multiple choice, which isn't necessarily always the strongest way, such as by making you type in the ON counterparts of the English words. That really would be challenging. Finally the app includes 49 model verbs fully conjugated as a reference. I would like to see many more verbs than this and the ability to search them. What a powerful reference tool that would be. Overall, then, this is a superb app and very useful in improving your ON vocabulary and testing several aspects of your grammar knowledge. A few extra features and it would easily warrant 5 stars. But even now for the price it's an absolute steal!

Great app
Great app. You get more than what you pay for which I like. I just wish it had audio to hear how to pronounce the words properly.
Excellent
I love this app! It's great for practice, review, and learning new vocab.
Great help for learning old Norse
I've been reading through byock's new old Norse lesson book and this app is a great companion to it. Just half an hour with this app has greatly improved my old Norse vocabulary.
Just what you are looking for
I have been playing with this for just one afternoon, but this is exactly what I have been hoping and looking for in an iPhone app for memorizing ON.
Major props to LP on this. I'm definitely looking forward to future support and updates for this app.

Just what I'd been looking for!
