Bought this app years ago

Came back to use it and now some features are locked for premium members. Nice business model

Locked out of Purchased Features.

I purchased Luma Pro in 2024 so I could capture images in full-resolution RAW, and now some of the features I paid for are locked behind a new "Club Membership." I have selected restore purchases and nothing has changed. What is going on???

Great!

Excellent update and UI redesign!

Great But…

Animations are slow and almost everything takes multiple taps to complete. There’s no undo or reset for individual adjustments such as curves. Also, the buttons and the whole UI are a bit confusing. Otherwise a great app. Looking forward to seeing it improved.

Trying to make it my go to camera app

I love the functionality of the app. Everything is amazing and I love the attention to little details. However there is a singular bug which causes major pains.

In manual mode, setting the shutter speed to the longest setting breaks the check button. The app starts lagging and the shutter speed button stops working entirely. Happens on iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Cool I guess

Bayer raw with extra steps. Cool UI. Way better options out here. Moment, analogue, no fusion, indigo. Keep workin

Pretty good, but some issues.

I love the app, it takes pretty decent picture, but it's just a couple tiny problems first of all. It's there's literally no way to find out how to do anything. It's a little bit complicated and I still don't know how to zoom and other stuff like that. I just wish there was like a tutorial when you install the app or even something to do it. Also I cannot make presets because I literally try to but. Nothing happened when I clicked anything, so I'm still confused what to do. If you can just add a simple tutorial or even label something that would be really nice. If, but everything else is perfect. Four out of five stars If once they can fix that, I will probably up my reveal. To fight swords but I'd say my only issues.

Slow and buggy

Doesn’t take 48MP images in any mode though I think that is be a use it is doing RAW not ProRAW so that is apples fault for not allowing third party apps to access the 48MP RAWs.

The whole import, develop selected, added to gallery workflow is just irritating, when it works which is about half the time.

Nice UI.

Editing is painful as even on my 17 Pro you’ll try and adjust something and it won’t adjust, then suddenly it’ll adjust far too much due to severe lag on any of the dots especially the EDR. You will change something, then whilst changing something else the thing you previously changed will suddenly take effect meaning you never have any idea of what your edits are doing.

Importing (pro)Raw files may work or it may crash and you still have to do the irritating import to gallery after I’ve just imported it so due to this weird workflow you have to import it twice to get it into the gallery to edit it, assuming it doesn’t crash.

UPDATED FOR LUMA 4 - An excellent camera app that made a DSLR user with their iPhone camera more

Edit: An update came out that addressed the auto-exposure when tapping in manual. I have removed this from the review and changed the rating accordingly.

This app is by far the best of any I’ve tried and it’s made me a lot more willing to take photos with my phone camera.
Normally I wouldn’t bother taking pictures on my phone even if I didn’t have my camera with me as I really didn’t like the lack of control vs a DSLR, but LUMA has the full manual I want, along with presets (although at the moment does not have pre-made presets) and an editor. If you don’t like the options available, you can take the RAW files to your computer and play around with them in your editor of choice.
It’s an excellent app with so much versatility, whether shooting manual like me or someone shooting much more casually, there’s something here for every level of photographer who wants more from their shooting experience than the default camera app.

Difficult

Cons:
- I don’t know where to look for camera switching.
- the difficulty of safe the image into the gallery.

Pros:
Design and noise preservation

Most functional free camera app with actual controls

Every other camera app I've tried (as of a few months ago during my initial search) are either free but worse than the default camera app, or they have the controls I want like focus and shutter speed but are paid. This exactly what I'm looking for: free without ads and includes controls that the default app lacks. V4 is a good improvement, adding both front/rear cameras and a larger shutter button. However, the UI is a bit clunky and the controls are a bit laggy, especially when setting the shutter speed to something very slow and then back. Otherwise, Luma is a very good app!

UPDATED REVIEW FOR LUMA 4 - A very nice update with a small annoyance

A great update overall, but there is one issue that’s been getting in my way a bit. In manual mode, tapping overrides all settings chosen, it would be a lot better feeling if it only adjusted focus while in manual mode, or if there was a true lock per setting that completely prevented overrides. I do not know if this is part of the update or if I only noticed it staring with this update, but regardless it would be nice if it was changed.

Thank you for all the effort put into this, it’s wonderful overall and it’s been my go-to camera app for a while now!

Response from developer

Thank you! I think you’ll be extra pleased with LUMA 4, coming as a free update really soon in that case.

The best editing and shooting app on the AppStore right now

By far the most sleek and sophisticated dedicated app for photography on iOS huge pros to the developer. You are missing out if you don’t use to edit raw files on the go, better and easier to use then light room

Great app !

A do it all, free app. Hope that there’s no catch in the future 💸

Response from developer

Happy you like it! Everything that’s in the app now will be free forever. Happy shooting, Raf

What a beautiful feature rich app

Very nice designed app full of features and capabilities 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Just needs one more thing

Very nice to use, the best of the many, many camera apps I’ve tried! Adding the ability to replace the default camera button on lock screen like other apps I’ve looked at would be amazing and make this a perfect replacement for the default camera app

Response from developer

Thank you! I think you’ll be extra pleased with LUMA 4, coming as a free update really soon in that case.

Great app

I love everything about the app but the pro cam is missing an aperture setting. Hope to see it added soon. All round great app though.

Great

Amazing app just wish it had a 48mp pro raw mode for the newer iphones

UI is broken, profiles are hiding at the bottom of the screen

Broken UI - profiles are non picky at very bottom of the screen.

Waste of money.

Chinese language,by any chance?

Love this app, but my poor English keeps me out. Please send help 🥹
