More curated than meetup
I discovered Luma after attending a local developer meetup in montréal. I use both Meetup and Luma to find local tech/AI events. I find Luma is more curated and has more local events. I also find that Luma has more paid events ( I don’t mind paying a small fee is an event is curated and there is food). For a 5 start rating, I’d like to see a native ipadOS app, as I use this app on both iPhone and iPad Pro.

Usability is getting worse
Social media profile links now open in a browser in the app rather than the native app of the social media platform. Makes it really hard to look at profiles because now you have to close the browser to make changes to the guest status.

Definitely meeting the right people using this app. Happy to be invited to so many events that I haven’t been a part of for the last 20 years of my life but should have. Reminds me of volunteering at Collision Festival in Toronto to get back in the scene of the latest technology. :) :) :)

Location does not work
I moved to another city and still getting all events for the previous city with no way to change it. At this point only the weekly email is valuable. The app - unusable

The interface is great! I’m excited for it to get better and have more events! I do wish that the search was a little easier to use because you can’t search for specific events so it’s kind of hard to find them. I also wish there was better browse feature of seeing all of the local events instead of only by topic and I could search based on location instead. Overall amazing and I think it’s gonna keep getting better!

Such a rip off and I feel it’s full of A.I. or paid employees chatting with you to get you to pay. Probably gonna report them to the BBB if have time.
Great app!
This app is genuinely really good. User experience is great, events are growing. My only gripe is that it is hard to find all the events that are happening. If anyone on product dev at Luma reads this I reckon you should add a view over all events in Melbourne. It seems like events that are located in a suburb don’t show up under the existing view. Possibly a bug

A bit buggy
Please fix the location setting, currently the location is auto detected and it’s wrong, when I am in NJ I want to view events in NYC but I got auto detected to be in Dallas… please help fix this, and also add a save feature, it’s frustrating to only be able to view not save, and send reminders to hosts to apply people, some never approves… otherwise the app is great for finding events and I enjoyed it so far when it works

Awful spam filling your email box and Calendar
This app is out of control, your email is harvested and shared and both your email inbox and calendar will be drowned in emails and events you haven’t signed up to!! You go to one event and are automatically signed up to weekly or daily newsletters! A client phoned me to ask me if I had seen his email about a job recently! I hadn’t seen it due to the noise and drowning in so many emails!! I now think my email is on a list thats being sold on! Quite sinister and really out of control!!
