Lights stop working when screen turns black

I constantly get interrupted once my screen turns black. The flickering lights stop and it disrupts my session every time. Please make it so all features continue working if screen turns black. Also can I request longer customer times? I’d like to test this while sleeping as well so 8-9 hour options would be fantastic. Thank you
