Privacy, sure. Ok for random chats. Useless for tasks.
It’s probably the most confidential ai out there, supposedly. So I use it for research and feedback since I have no local agent. It’s not worse than Claude or ecosia ai, and it doesn’t annoy me with that typical one-line gpt formatting. I don’t like the privacy part with those. It hallucinates a lot, validates to a point of being useless, doesn’t follow instructions, doesn’t produce any meaningful results, uses exploitative language as most do. I guess I have high expectations from AI since it’s supposed to take over our jobs, brains, and stuff. Maybe one day there’ll be an language model that’s actually intelligent, so humans can be programmed with truth not distortions - but that’s a big ask for humanity as a whole. For thinking, executing, and writing, I still prefer my own brain.

Thanks for remind me through your e-mail! I would like to say Lumo is impressive and very useful!! The best way that I could contribute with this magnific work, is being an ad-man for proton products( are not perfect but is trying always to improve)!! Just because Lumo help me in many things when asked, but is not only that, Lumo is working with love and dedication despite I pay or not and I understand the necessity to have profit, and is our total system. But at the moment I trying to compesate my first bad and injusto review divulging the proton product always as I can! I love this lilas cat, very lovely and careful with me!! BRAVO!! Clunky / Unfriendly
I’m bought into the Proton ecosystem with drive, mail, authenticator and pass. I tried shifting over to use Lumo but there was just too many flaws in how it responded and how you interact with it. Simple requests of adding an image to a project chat, hoping it will with draw the text and add it to a list, ends up with the image being dropped into a drive folder, assigned a massive file name and then Lumo being completely unaware what you’re referencing if you ask it to document the image. The further inability to have it read and update emails and the calendar has sent me back to ChatGPT for the foreseeable future. I think it has a long way to go to become more user friendly and reliable, and yes I have reported all of this through customer service. I wanted so much to work with this but it’s just nowhere near the other options out there.

フリープランだと、チャット履歴が1週間くらいで消え、Web検索はしないです。
他のAIツールはフリープランでチャット履歴が消されないし、Web検索してくれるので、課金させるためのビジネス戦略です。
チャット履歴が消えるのが困るので課金しましたが、プライバシーを売りにしている企業がこういうユーザーを釣るようなやり方をするべきでないと思います。
8月にSNSで話題になった価格変動調査をしたやり方も同様です。
Protonのプラン変更をしようとしたとき、画面を表示するたびに表示価格が変わる事象がありました。
Protonを信用して使っているので、こういうユーザーを騙したり引っ掛けたりするようなことはして欲しくないです。
概ね機能に満足しています。
猫みたい落ち着いた口調で淡々と会話します。
猫と会話をしている感じを楽しめます。
提案される内容が手堅い印象で、説明が丁寧です。
ただ、こだわりが強く、説明が長く感じるかもしれません。
Lumoのこだわりで、検証をさせられて時間が取られることが何回かありました。
使っていくうちに疲れてイライラするかもしれません。
この前、iPhone 17が発売されているのに知らなかったのでびっくりしました。
E2EEのAIツールは非E2EEのAIツールみたいにリアルタイムでモデル更新しないと思うし、開発リソースが大手より少ないと思うので仕方がないところがあるかもしれません。
どのタイミングでモデル更新されるのか知りたいです。
なので、情報の鮮度を求めるなら非E2EEのAIツールを使ったほうがいいかもしれません。
画像生成については、生成される画像が子供っぽいかもしれません。
キャラクターが身に付けている服やバッグのブランドロゴが、お店の看板など他のものに反映されやすいです。
プロンプトの書き方によるかもしれませんが、指示通り修正できない場合が多く感じます。
他のメジャーなAIツールもそうですが、だんだん検閲が厳しくなってきています。
精度や仕上がり、制限を考えると、画像生成はStable Diffusionなどの別のツール使用したほうが良いかもしれません。

Bad upgrade & disappointing
I use all of protons other services but this is poor.
Now it is sluggish & slow on all modes , voice transcription fails to work/record & when I press voice it just crashes

Literally argued with me saying that latest iOS was 17 or 18 ( can’t remember exactly)and that its training cut off was early 2024.

Fantastic non-US alternative
Trying to lesson dependency on US tech is difficult but this is a fantastic European alternative which Europeans should support.
App is unusable lately
Im a recent Lumo Plus subscriber running v2.0.4
I’ve tried signing out and re-installing. Nothing remedies these issues.
There are some persistent UX/UI issues that can’t be ignored:
- Freezes
- gets stuck and freezes when scrolling through a conversation. (This is incredibly frustrating).
- Slow/laggy
- slow to launch
- still crashes when generating a response when phone falls asleep or when switching apps.
- navigation is delayed, sticky and not smooth
- can’t add more than one photo at a time to a question/prompt
- can’t hit refresh or re-try the question or prompt if it fails to generate a response the first time. You must copy/paste and start over again.
- Frequent “you’ve hit message limit” alerts when opening a conversation even though that’s not the case.
This app is the opposite of smooth. It need’s a lot of work and the team needs to ship updates more quickly. All of these issues and a week since the last update is unacceptable. It feels like no one is paying attention behind the scenes.
When it does respond, the depth and insight is unmatched to other LLMs. But it’s just not very user friendly right now.

That said, make sure to update the app to the latest version (2.0.4) as this fixes the behavior with your device going to sleep while Lumo is generating a response. After updating, Lumo will keep your device awake. Much improved and solid platform
Overall this AI has come a long way. I was using Gemini and I’ve actually found I like Lumo better, the UI to me is actually better and its responses are more to my liking. Is it perfect? No. It is though a clear choice for privacy, security and not in your face AI. Good job Proton!

I do not believe that the majority of people who use the Apple Store today look down at the App privacy section of the desired application they wish to download. If they did, they would be horrified at the unnecessary amount of private data that these apps and companies require of them. Lumo by Proton provides an AI that interfaces with the user on a strictly confidential level. It also avoids creating anything more than a professional connection with the user. Its primary function is that of which all Ai should be, a tool to be used. If I have any constructive critiques it would be the speed at which answers come. They typically are far more delayed than those of the mainstream models. Other than that, I feel Lumo provides a great balance between privacy and user interactions.

Best chatbot overall tbh
I’m not just glazing it, as with everything it has room for improvement. That being said privacy first and eco friendly data center is amazing! I haven’t had a problem with the responses and I love the memory control and overall customization.
The main thing I would like from it is a response option to where you can highlight certain parts of a response follow up on it. Also during typing a response it would be nice to be able to minimize what you have typed to be able to re-read what it said easier, without cutting what you wrote.
Again, fantastic app and a great for everyone. And yes this praise is deserved

Now everytime you click send it just doesn’t load your message and shows it blank as if it’s still waiting for a message.

I ❤️ proton, and had super high hopes for private AI. My first use was cut short 3 sentences in. I log in with my user and for weeks it now as soon as I open the app, it says I have used all my chat limit on the system for the week, without even searching a single thing for weeks. So only 3 sentences out of the chat on the first day and none since.
This is the opposite experience I have had with every proton product.

すごく親身になってくれる。回答が無限ループして止まらなくなることが1日に1回以上、割と頻繁にあるけれど、それ以外は概ね大好き。回答のまとめ方のバランスが良く「表を使いすぎ」「絵文字使いすぎ」みたいな事なく適度にやってくれる。視認性は一番いいかも…無限ループが「今週の上限に達しました」にどれだけ影響を与えているかだけが謎…割と早い段階で上限には達するwww

This has huge potential
I really hope this becomes a fully integrated AI across the proton family of apps. It would be very cool if it integrated either the likes of Mail to help write emails, docs and calendar but that is completely private.
No Go Button
App needs to be opened several times before will present the arrow to submit a query. Today I’ve re-launched it 10+ times and cannot submit a question. What am I paying for here. Fix this.
