Won’t even open . The Behringer X16 software does work , why ?
Definitely usable and fairly consistent - 3.5*
I have been using the Midas MR18 + the M-Air app for nearly 2 years with my 9th generation iPad running 26.2.1. In general, I am happy with the app and mixer, with some small caveats. I rate this at 3.5, but gave it a 4* rating to balance against the 1* rating.
1 - The app interface isn’t super intuitive beyond the basic faders, so it would be AWESOME if there were built-in tutorials. Much of the online content is user-made and doesn’t mirror the app layout on an I-Pad, so I’ve had to do a bunch of trial and error to get things dialed in.
2 - I use the MR18 primarily to run audio for board meetings, keynote events, and occasional live musical events. There have been 3 instances where, due to Wifi interference, the app becomes unresponsive (audio doesn’t drop - everything just stays where it was prior to the signal drop). That is SUPER-disappointing and stress inducing in the middle of a live event. It has inspired me to instead start running the app from my computer connected to the MR18 via ethernet. Why not enable the MR18 to connect directly to an iPad via usb/thunderbolt for both data exchange and charging?
3 - it would be extremely beneficial to be able to copy and paste settings for different channels, instead of manually programming every channel.
4 - When using a touchscreen to adjust gain and other dial -based (non-slider) functions, it is not possible to see the numeric value behind my finger - it would be helpful to modify the interface to show a pop-up window or something so that we can easily see and/or manually input the numerical values.
5 - The color-pallet for labeling channels is rather limited - why isn’t there a color-wheel or other option to more diversely label channels?
6 - Every once in a while when opening the app, the screen stays black, or simply won’t display the option to select my MR18 - necessitating a restart of my iPad. I actually came to the App Store just now to see if there were any available updates (there were not).
7 - Once, the usb send/receive failed mid-meeting. It took a bit of troubleshooting to find that the issue was with the MR18 rather than with the app, which worked after doing a power-cycle. A notification of what failed within the system would be super helpful (like the way printers notify you of a specific jam or empty tray.
All in all, this is a decent system. With the advances in AI and audio tech, I reckon newer mixers will have built-in AI, so this will probably be obsolete by 2028.
