About
Calculate spindle speed, feed rate and tap drill sizes at the machine. Choose a material and cutter, set your machine's spindle and cutting feed limits, and save the setup for your next job.
Speeds and feeds
- Approximate starting values for 13 materials, with carbide and HSS tooling
- Inch and metric units, with exact decimal or fractional cutter diameters
- Named machine profiles with minimum and maximum RPM and a maximum cutting feed
- The app adjusts feed and RPM together to preserve feed per tooth and explains when limits conflict
- Manual cutting speed and chip load, with links to manufacturer references
- Radial chip thinning with separate programmed feed per tooth and target chip thickness
Saved setups
The app remembers your last inputs and units on your device. Give cutting setups a name so you can find them again. Each saved setup keeps its machine limits when you edit a profile. Copy a result with its tool, material, machine limits and units.
Tap drills
Select common metric, UNC and UNF threads or enter a custom diameter and pitch. Choose a target engagement from 50% to 100%, then see the calculated diameter, nearest catalog drill and actual engagement for that drill. The catalog includes number, letter and fractional inch drills, plus metric drills from 1 to 30 mm in 0.1 mm increments. Keep standard or custom thread calculations in Favorites, or reopen one of your last 20 calculations with its units and target engagement. The app explains what your chosen engagement means. These calculations are for 60-degree cutting taps. They do not cover forming or pipe taps.
Offline calculations
Calculations and saved setups work on your device without an account. An internet connection may be needed to purchase or restore a subscription.
Check before cutting
The app estimates cutting data from approximate material ranges. It applies an estimated speed factor for HSS and scales chip load with cutter diameter. It is not a verified table for your particular cutter. Tool coating, stick-out, rigidity, work holding and coolant can change the right cutting parameters. Verify against your tool manufacturer's data and follow safe machining practices.
